The stones wore out in about 30 seconds of honing with ATF as a lubricant. One of the three extra stones provided was broken during shipping. One of the stones on the tool was cracked as well.

It worked well for deglazing. The stones wore fast compared to snap-on stones. But it did work fine.

I've always enjoyed messing with cars and other mechanical things in my spare time, and have successfully rebuilt a couple of engines. (Try it, don't be afraid!) The hone I used was of considerably lower quality (and smaller) than this one. This one is nice and sturdy and should do a good job on my son's classic Miata when we give it new rings. The tool comes with a set of replacement stones...I doubt I'll ever be doing enough work to get around to needing to replace the first set, but they're there if I do!
