VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT) SOLENOID
The variable valve timing solenoid is a component of the variable valve timing system that manages the oil flow depending on the engine speed and load. A VVT solenoid in good working condition improves performance and fuel efficiency.
HOW DOES A VVT SOLENOID WORK?
- STEP ONE : The VVT solenoid works with oil pressure, using directions from the ECU to alter rotation of the camshaft.
- STEP TWO : The solenoid alters the oil flow in the conduit leading to the camshaft phaser(s).
- STEP THREE : Conduits can be “instructed” to hasten or delay intake valve opening depending on which conduit will be called upon by the solenoid.
- STEP FOUR : Variation of the intake pressure will be used by the powertrain computer to optimize fuel delivery to the combustion chambers.
- Machined to precision tolerances preventing leakage, wear and seizing
- Corrosion-resistant solenoid enclosure and mounting brackets

To start with its not the OEM part. After breaking the electrical connector off my solenoid during head gasket change my alternative was to use a used junk one or spend a ridiculous amount of $ on a factory part. The solenoid is the same diameter but not as long as the OEM part. After approximately two weeks now seems to not have any issues with it or any check engine lights on and doesn’t seem to effect the performance of the car.

After 3 months this piece is giving me problems. I purchased it back in june 2022 and now it’s giving issues. Do not purchase save your money for a better piece.
