I have a moderate case of scoliosis that makes my right shoulder droop noticeably. Not terribly, just noticeably. I bought this to help me with my posture and alleviate back pain due to my scoliosis. However, I do not recommend this for people with similar issues as mine. It did not fit uniformly across my back. The fabric on the right side where my shoulder droops, bunched and was loose. The left side where I have no issues was overly tight to compensate for my right shoulder. This made my circulation feel cut off to my left hand no matter how I adjusted it. This is unfortunate, considering for the short time I wore it, it did pull my shoulders back for better posture support. There's just no way to tell if this is an effective product, but I was able to send the product back and my money was promptly refunded. That's why it received 3 stars.

I've had cervical spine surgery (c4-5) and was told by the doc that if I use a posture support it will help relieve the tension in my neck and tightness and pain in the surrounding muscles (trapezius, levator scapulae). I tried several different supports and this was the worst. First of all, it is a very flimsy fabric and doesn't provide any support at all. When I tried to tighten it it cut in to my armpits and was VERY uncomfortable. The "support" is created by the tightness around the armpits which holds the shoulders back, but it is the discomfort:benefit ratio which fails. A better choice would be the Cincher Women's Posture Back Brace Support Belt ... be aware that it is stiffer and does restrict movement somewhat, but if you're suffering from neck/trapezius pain it does provide relief, especially if you're prone to slouching while at the computer or sitting for long periods of time.

I have been wearing this for 2 days now and I cannot believe how well it works. First of all, it holds my shoulders in proper place all by itself without any help from me. Usually when I get home I have a headache and need my neck massaged. The first day I wore it I had NO tension in my neck after work. NONE. For all the people saying it hurts, I have worn it at least 8 hours a day with nothing underneath. It does get slightly uncomfortable after 8 hours, but already today was more comfortable than yesterday. I would recommend this to anybody who has poor posture leading to neck/shoulder pain and tension, headaches, etc. I've had this problem for over 20 years and this is the first thing to make any difference. Best $45 I ever spent!

I bought this as a device to correct my everyday posture, especially since I spend hours every day working at the computer. I've always had poor posture and I always seem to be leaning forward whatever I am doing. I put it on and immediately I felt I had normal posture. I looked in the mirror and I looked like I had normal posture. It was a very easy fix. However, I don't know if it actually would be useful for "correcting" your posture. After I take it off, I don't feel any different. However, it does keep me from being a complete slouch while doing work at the keyboard. I also play piano and have instant correct posture when I play with this on.Of course this is designed to keep your shoulders back when riding horses, not to "correct" anything, and according to the pictures on the packaging it is designed for women. As such, if you're a man buying this I'd suggest you go one larger on the size. I normally wear a men's medium or small. I'm 6'1" and 170 lbs. (thin/average for my height). However, the medium seems to be a little too small for me. I'm assuming that if I'd ordered a large, the back part would have been larger. The straps (3 straps, one of which wraps around the stomach and one over each shoulder) are entirely velcro, so even if I were 6'1" and 130 lbs I could still wear this same one because you can position the velcro at whatever point is comfortable. So if you are a man (in other words, if you have broader shoulders), I think it'd be worth getting a larger size. I don't know what the size options are anyway, but this medium fits well enough that I don't feel the need to replace it.The only drawback is you might not want to wear it at work/job interviews/etc. because moving around can cause it to make a bit of a crackling velcro noise but nothing embarrassing. Anyway I'd recommend this for anyone who wants to do something about their slouching, especially with activities that tend to bring your shoulders forward into a slouching position. I looked at the other options on amazon before choosing this one, which all seemed to have different design flaws or cheap construction and I'm glad I did. The best part is those long straps that are pure velcro... enables you to find the perfect size.
