Bought this for someone who works as a flagger. As you can imagine they are exposed to all kinds of weather. This has kept them worm in 9 degree F weather with thermals under clothes and fleece lined pants, and keeps them dry in winter rains. When it’s slightly warmer like 20-30 degrees they don’t need the thermals.

While this jacket is warm when worn in the single digits, it does NOT seem to BE very water resistant and definitely NOT water proof. It gets heavy when working in the rain, and the clothes underneath get soaking after an hour in the rain.

Warm and wind resistant, room in the shoulders to do overhead work. Pockets are ok, could use another on left side of chest area and maybe one inside . Otherwise works well for my situation.

... hasn't been all that cold lately, making a true cold-weather test impossible. However, for many years I was in the habit of taking long walks, in both summer and winter, and one of the ways I could tell how well a coat would keep me warm in really frigid temps was to put that coat on indoors and see how long I could stand wearing it before it became uncomfortable. If it was just a minute or so, I knew It would keep me warm into the teens. This coat did just that, plus it is not overly bulky or heavy compared to some. The quality of construction is just that -- construction job level. No complaints. For what it is, what it does, and what it costs: Five StarsI am the Totally Unbiased Reviewer Dude (T.U.R.D.) and that is how I see it.

This is a pretty nice quality and well designed jacket. It is not puffy, but has some rigidity and thickness to it like a quality outer layer jacket. It's a tad big. I would usually wear a medium, but while the sleeve length of this one is just a bit long, it has a lot of body space and extends well past my waist. Not exactly too large either, so it's relatively ok particularly if I bulk up with layers like a down vest, hoodie, or another thinner jacket inside. That is somewhat required especially if it's several degrees below freezing outside. While I can comfortably wear this with a t shirt in 40F weather, I can still feel a bit of chill unlike some of my snow jackets that would instantly make me feel like I'm in the tropics while in 20F weather. With a thicker layer inside, I can probably feel comfortable in 20F weather with some active movement. Apart from the insulation and size, it has some quite well made designs and features. The hood is particularly nice as it has these side straps that velcro into recessed pockets on either side of your face, forming a little shield around your mouth without actually touching your face. That provides some heat reflection from your breath without feeling overly stifling. It also has double zippers so you can unzip a bit from the bottom up for more flexible movement, although that tends to be a bit loose so it sometimes just unzips by itself with some more rigorous movements. The pockets are plenty and deep. The reflective stripes are durable canvas like material rather than just printed on, so it's highly reflective while remaining in good quality even after washing. Overall, it's a decent work site winter jacket.
