This crushed coral is perfect for my high acidity water to buffer it out. And my blood parrots love to dig and play in it too! I did spend some time pre-rinsing it with a strainer, and water was still cloudy for a day. But my two Hang on Back (HOB) and two cannister filters made short work of the cloudiness.

The listing for this product claims that it's specially formulated for tortoises. Maybe a tortoise would like, but I got this crushed coral to raise the pH in my freshwater tank. It worked, though of course it made the water quite cloudy at first. The coral raised the pH and looked pretty good as substrate, so I'm happy with it.

Product is very dusty with fine crushed corol that is very hard to rinse clear. Took about an hour of rinsing for one bad and still had very cloudy water. Residue was almost clay like. Rinse small amounts at a time

It's a nice base for my 45 gallon one bag covered enough. Have to do a lot of rinsing before putting it in though

Hilarious though that they wrote that. Clearly on the bag it's for marine aquarium use only.But my Sulcatas love it, it's safe for them to eat and a source of calcium, they definitely eat it, it looks incredible with the red heat lamps shining down on it at night, super easy to remove poop only and rinse and reuse cleaning of urine. I expect it to last a long time. The bag is small so make sure you realize how much we're talking, I'm about to order a few more to actually cover the bottom of their habitat. This bag would cover the bottom of a 25 gallon tank. Really the only thing I don't like is that the listing says specially formulated for tortoises because that's just boofoo. But you know I probably wouldn't have got it if it didn't say that, so I dunno maybe they're on to something. Maybe better wording. Like this is fish aquarium coral that tortoises will love! I just don't like being misled. My friggin Sulcatas give it a 5 outta 5.
