It fits my 20 inch bass drum and it gets a fuller sound.

Ottima c'è poco da dire montata su una batteria gretsch non di quelle top ma da studio. Il suono della cassa è impressionante.

This is such a huge upgrade in sound and feel to my last batter head. Play hard rock and classic rock, and since replacing with this Evans head, I was able to take out the rolled up towel on the batter side. Beautiful, sharp dynamics without any of the annoying ringing or overtones. Made my cheap bass drum sounds 100% better. I like mine with an Evans EQ pad, couldn't hurt the longevity.

I love this head. Now, just because I say I love it doesn't necessarily mean you should buy it. I am no expert or know tons about drumming. I just have an idea of the kinds of sounds I like, so since I like this head, I guess it means this is the head I would buy again to get that sound I like. Hope that makes sense. Now you have to consider that everyone tunes their drums differently so that will also affect the sound and whether or not you like this head. The way I did it was I replaced the head, finger tightened the lugs, rest my hand on the head and tightened each lug till the ripples were gone, but only to get rid of the ripples. Then just did a slight turn on each lug again and one more time and I was done. Now as for the muffling, I just used and old bed pillow that was all worn out and made sure the pillow was touching the front and back head and was laid out on the bottom of the drum nicely. I will be posting a video later on how it sounds.

Best bass drum head I've ever played! Will never need anything else. This head has such a rich, just deep enough, sharp punch yet warm attack. It delivers a clean thump without annoying overtones or sounding like muffled plastic! I do have a king size pillow inside the drum though. I use a Tama Speedcobra Double bass pedal and can absolutely fly very cleanly and controllably on this head. It has a tight, springy feel that you can definitely notice and it definitely helps me be crisper with all beats and solos! I don't think you can go wrong with this head with Rock and Roll, Fusion, Jazz and Country… Well, if you play folk music you may just need a tambourine! Just kidding!!

I forgot I had bought one of these EQ4 heads several years ago when they first came out. Expensive mistake. On my Pearl Export Select poplar wood drums, the EQ4 just has too much presence and attack for me, much too bright and not enough warmth. But since drums and drumheads are very subjective, you might love it (if I played with a rock group, I might use it). I bought myself the best bass drum head I've yet had the pleasure of using, which is the Evans Clear EQ3 batter. To my ears, the EQ3 just has much more warmth combined with a chest grabbing punchy attack, not bright like the EQ4.

OK so I never give 5 stars. Well I just did. I have been so impressed with these heads since I tried them. I am eventually getting round to swapping all mine to Evans EQ4. My Bass Drum now sounds like it should a deep thud with no resonant overtones. Replaces the need for O rings to take out that unpleasant ringing of the drum. No need to stuff your bass drum with the guitarists jumper or next doors dead cat.
