Well I suppose you do get what you pay for, but this is a pretty nice starter violin for the price. I am a total beginner, so to be fair I don't have much of a comparison, but when I received this instrument and opened the case I was absolutely thrilled with this beautiful violin and accompanying accessories. Upon unpacking and inspecting it further, I found that the instrument is very lightweight, and the bow and violin both feel like entry level quality, even with little to compare with. But the set comes with everything you need to get started, a nice enough lined case, rosin, shoulder rest, extra strings etc. and I would not have wanted to invest in a more expensive violin anyway until deciding if playing is something I am going to enjoy enough to continue (I'm in my 50's so learning new things may be important but it's also more challenging than when I was younger!). I have found it hard to keep properly tuned so far, but then the weather here has been very warm and dry and I understand that may be effecting the pegs and keeping them from staying put as the wood shrinks a bit (we'll see if that continues to be an issue now that the weather is cooling down and there is more moisture in the air). Anyway, overall I think the current price of $98 is very fair if you are looking for an entry level violin this one is definitely worth considering.*Note-I received this product through the Amazon Vine program at a significantly reduced cost (I pay taxes on this item, so it is not totally free) in exchange for my honest review and opinion/experience with the item.*After reviewing hundreds of items, this is how I generally rate the products I receive. I strive to be fair and honest, rather than overly enthusiastic just because I received it through Vine. I try to base my review on how I would feel about it if I had paid full price:*5 Stars - I really love it! It might even be better than described, or a better design or quality than similar items. It is a good value, I would not hesitate to pay full price for the item for myself or for a gift and highly recommend it.*4 Stars - I like it a lot, it is accurately described, and in comparison to similar items in the same price range seems to be a good value. It might not be perfect or knock my socks off, but I would consider paying full price for the item for myself or for a gift.*3 Stars - The product is as described, average quality compared to similar items, and priced fairly. It might not be as well designed as similar items. It probably has a lot of competition and there might be better choices, I would shop around but might purchase if the price was right.*2 Stars - The product is well below my expectations for the price and quality compared to similar items, has significant issues or damage or poor quality control. I would not spend my money on it and would recommend you seriously consider the flaws before doing so yourself.*1 Star - This would be a very bad product (perhaps bad customer service on top of it). This is a product I would throw away and not even donate, and would recommend you do not purchase.

This is a beautiful instrument that makes a great starting point for beginners. As far as I can tell, it's well made even if it doesn't match a violin that costs hundreds of dollars. It's lightweight which I suspect is to help beginners with learning proper posture and holding technique without having to deal with the weight of a higher end instrument. The included carrying case is nicely put together and the violin fits perfectly within. There was a set of spare strings, a shoulder rest, a few music books, and some rosin included in the packaging. It seems to be everything needed for a strong start. The bow and violin already come with everything assembled so the only thing really needed is tuning which is part of the learning process. This should be a fun journey!

I’ve been learning the violin for about half year now, and this is my second violin. I have to say, it’s by far my favorite! Here’s why:Violin Quality: 5/5The build quality is impressive, with a beautiful finish and solid wood construction. It feels durable and well-made, and the tone it produces is warm and resonant. It’s a step up from the other violin I’ve owned.Sound: 5/5The sound is where this violin really shines. It’s clear, rich, and has great resonance, making practice sessions much more enjoyable. I’ve noticed an improvement in my playing since using it!Playability: 5/5As someone with a year of experience, I find this violin very comfortable to play. The fingerboard is smooth, and the bow is responsive, making it easy to get the sound I want. It’s been a joy to practice with every day.Kit and Extras: 5/5The set comes with everything a player could need: a lightweight case, extra strings, rosin, a shoulder rest, and a bow. The case is sturdy, and all the accessories are of good quality, which is a huge bonus for the price.Overall, this violin has exceeded my expectations, and I’m very happy with my purchase. Whether you’re a beginner or someone with some experience, this is a great choice. Highly recommend it!
