Definitely a keeper.

At first he thought this would be too thin to be functional and made some comments about my wasteful purchase. Now it's his favorite spatula in the drawer. In fact, when I need it, it's always dirty in the dishwasher. So considering buying another.

We use nylon cookware tools so our non-stick cookware does not get scratched. This is a good choice for that. The head of the spatula is long and flexible enough to get under larger pieces of meat and fish, and rigid enough not to bend when flipping it over. The only thing I noticed, is that the handles is a little short. I could feel the heat from the pan while using it. Other than that it is a great, inexpensive cookware tool that I will use often.

This spatula has a good surface for non-stick cooking. I like it better than the typical silicone covered spatula. The round handle is heavily weighted, so this may be a good bet for those with a bit of a shaky hand. The only negative is that it is fairly small. It is true to the width of the dimensions in the listing, but if you are used to a bigger spatula, this may be smaller than you are expecting. Itβll be best for single eggs or smaller hotcakes. However, it will make maneuvering in small pans easier than with a larger spatula, so having a larger and small one will benefit me. The handle is a bit shorter than some, but that goes with the surface area of the spatula itself. The picture compares this to a several year old OXO spatula I have and love because it has a similar surface.

This is a spatula of two stories. This would be great to cook lighter fare like eggs, small pancakes, and other things in those categories. Where I would not trust it, though, is to handle heavier items like burgers, steaks, etc. It's just too lightweight for the heavier duty you'd need for items like that.Overall it's a handy tool to add to the kitchen and it certainly has it's uses. It feels well made and does a good job where it's the right tool, but as noted it comes with some limitations. If you're looking for a lighter duty spatula, this one is definitely worth a look, but if you need something with more heft than I'd look at some other options instead.

Until about a year ago, I'd only ever cooked with wooden and metal utensils β mainly out of a misguided belief that "conventional" materials were better than new materials. After all, if they were good enough for Julia Child and James Beard, they were good enough for me! I was wrong. Last year, I was gifted a ceramic-coated cast-iron skillet to replace my broken stainless one (which was, at that point, over 40 years old). And I quickly learned that using metal utensils on ceramic and non-stick surfaces is a recipe for disaster, and that wooden ones are not always up to the job (e.g., flipping pancakes or crepes). So I've been on the hunt for a spatula/turner that's comfortable to use, safe on non-stick surfaces, and (most importantly) dishwasher safe. I've tried 4 different ones in the last few months, and the Farberware Flex Turner is the ONLY one I've been truly happy with. The handle is the most ergonomic one I've found so far. It's wide enough that it's comfortable to hold and provides a high degree of sturdiness/control without needing to resort to a death grip. If (like me) you have carpal tunnel syndrome, this feature alone makes it worth the while. Not all non-stick safe flippers are created equal. While the other 3 flippers I've tried were reasonably gentle on my non-stick skillet, the flipping surface on them was surprisingly floppy and bendy. I initially thought that this would be an advantage, but I found that they often couldn't support the weight of whatever I was flipping. The result was a lot of ruined crepes and omelets. However, this one seems to provide just the right amount of flex and sturdiness. And so far, it hasn't caused a single nick or scratch on my non-stick pan. I also like that the edge is sharp enough and the flipper is sturdy enough to use it to cut through softer foods, like egg, baked pasta, etc.One of the biggest selling points for me was the fact that it was dishwasher safe. I don't ever wash my wooden utensils in the dishwasher because they dry out and crack, and handwashing them is a pain (and a waste of water). I've put this flipper through the dishwasher 3 times so far, and it comes out clean and looking like new each time β even on hot water cycles, there's no warping, bending, or scratching. At the end of the day, I find the Farberware Flex Turner to be surprisingly good value for money. 2 of the other 3 flippers I tried in recent months were far more expensive than this one, and neither were as easy or enjoyable to use as this one. It may not be the fanciest flipper on the market, but it's eminently affordable, has all the essential features, and the classic black/chrome styling looks sleek in any utensil holder.
