I bought these forceps for use in entomology gently handling live or dead insects. They appear to be excellent for that purpose. If I was rating that alone, I would give these forceps a 5.However, they came in a vinyl (?) or some other plastic-like case that is made out of a chemical on California's Proposition 65 list. While I understand I'm not likely to keel over from a momentary exposure to such a product, I am disturbed that I'm sending this one time use, nonrecyclable (due to material) and nonreusable (due to toxicity) packaging to the dump where it could potentially contaminate groundwater for a long time. Now is the time for us consumers to stop putting up with this dangerous and morally compromised flaw in our packaging system! We can ask for better packaging and avoid passively consuming plastic that will outlive us all in the average garbage dump.To the company who sells these forceps, please package your forceps in wax paper or something non-toxic going forward. This will be healthier for all of us and especially the people who work for your business.

Before buying these me and my lab mates were sharing a few pairs of bioquip forceps, which are very similar to these but a bit more expensive. So I ordered these to have my own pair. I was surprised when they arrived, I received two pairs of forceps, one is wide tipped as shown in the pictures and one is narrow tipped. I use soft forceps daily for handling live insects, and I prefer softest ones as more rigid forceps can damage the bodies of insects. Oddly, the wide pair I received is significantly stiffer than the bioquip ones, while the more narrow pair is nice and soft. I never use the wide ones as they are too stiff, but the narrow ones are good. So for $7 I got one good pair of forceps I use all the time, and one pair that I don't use. Amazon provides much quicker shipping than bioquip, but for $6 each you can get the bioquip ones. These work, but I will get the bioquip wide tip featherweight in future.

I have some of these from bioquip, but these are a lot more tougher. These are not meant for plucking hair, entomology is the study of insects haha
