Why cold pressed watercolor paper?

The cold press paper has Medium grain surface, which is between fine and coarse grain.

Its surface is sturdy and not prone to fuzzing, making it suitable for various styles of painting, especially landscape painting.

In addition, medium coarse grain watercolor paper has better adhesion for the pigments due to the texture indentation on the paper surface.

Thus, the cold press watercolor paper is suitable for expressing most transparent watercolor techniques and the preferred paper for beginners.

140lb watercolor paper

Why 140lb watercolor paper is a better choice for beginners?

The 140lb (300gsm) watercolor paper can meet the application of most technologies, the color rendering and water absorption are in a relatively balanced state, making it suitable for daily use, practice, and also the first choice for many beginners

This thick paper is also good for other dry and wet media such as Gouache Ink Acrylic and More.

Inaccurate info, this is not 60 individual sheets, only 30 sheets. Factoring in the price it's double the price as only received half the product.

I used a lot of layers on this painting and the paper really held up well. It will buckle a bit but overall I’m always happy with the quality. I like that it comes boxed, I’m less likely to splatter on other sheets. The only thing that would make it even better is if I could buy it as a pad of pages stuck together.

Just a nameless pack of regular watercolor paper (about 120 sheets), not cotton, not remotely anything like what’s described above. A bit of a scam basically.Kept the paper anyway because I go through them quickly — but I’m using it only for trials and drafts. Again, nothing like the description.

I mistakenly wrote a review here for a very subpar paper that I bought at the same time. This paper is quality and real cold-pressed cotton

So, I've been using Meeden paper for my art practice and experiments, but let's be real, it's not exactly budget-friendly. But guess what? I stumbled upon this gem—FEITAKE 100% Cotton Watercolor Paper 140#, and boy, am I extremely impressed! It's right up there with my favorites, Meeden and Fabriano, but without the hefty price tag. And let me tell you, it blows XL out of the wate because unlike XL this one is 100% cotton goodness. This paper can handle a serious amount of water and scrubbing without giving in. I've really put it through its paces, and it's held up like a champ. I'm so excited to have found something that's affordable and great quality for watercolor painting. My tulip piece—it's got layers upon layers of paint, and this paper took it like a champ. And those other flowers? Loads of water for that wet-on-wet technique, and not a single buckle in sight!Oh but there's more! You can paint on both sides, just like Meeden paper. So, I've been making my own watercolor sketchbooks! No need to waste my more expensive paper no on sketchbook! YAY!I'm telling you, whether you're a newbie or a seasoned pro, this paper's a winner. The only downside? It's not in block form which I prefer, but hey, a board and some tape will solve that in a real fast. You've got to try this paper out!

This is a wonderful paper it is not slick smooth or super rough. It has a nice level of texture. Paint works well and flows nicely. Great packaging in a nice box to keep paper safe. Love this. This is my second box.

I have liked the paper so far. Not too deeply toothed , it is just right for my taste and is absorbent. I don’t find I need to tape every piece to prevent buckling. As long as the entire page is wet, it holds up well.

This feels sturdy, like a soft, premium cardstock. It appears to be a high quality paper at a good value.I was hoping for it to be a bit softer, but the paper is very thick (which is as advertised) and the texture is somewhat large, while I had been searching for something which would be a bit finer, looser, and more natural in texture and feel.

I'm an amateur and I LOVE this paper. Canson XL, etc. is for practicing something like leaf shapes, or for testing ideas. But if you actually want to create a painting - even if it's only halfway decent - it's such a pleasure to actually paint on 100% cotton and it is rarely affordable. This paper does a great service to those of us in that serious amateur category. After using it, I don't really even like the feel of Meeden or Paul Rubens. I'm going to put this in my Saved for Later Cart so that Alexa will notify me if it goes on sale.
