About this item

  • Maple neck with walnut "skunk" stripe
  • Maple fingerboard with 9. 5" radius
  • 22 medium jumbo frets
  • Pre-slotted synthetic bone nut
  • Standard truss rod

Crafted at our Ensenada, Mexico, manufacturing facility, this genuine Fender Baritone Sub-Sonic Telecaster guitar neck will convert your standard scale length guitar into a 27. 5" scale length baritone! Features a comfortable "modern C" profile and 9. 5"-radius maple fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. The nut is pre-slotted with "pilot" string location grooves to make spacing a breeze when performing the final string slot filing, and a satin finish on the back offers smooth playability. This replacement neck is for a Fender or Squier by Fender guitar. Because Fender genuine replacement necks have not been mounted to guitar bodies, nut slots must be cut by qualified personnel. Other installation processes may be required, such as fret work, fitting the neck to the neck pocket, and other instrument setup procedures. Your local FMIC Authorized Service Center can install genuine replacement necks; find Authorized Service Center locations near you in the "Support" section of fender .

Another data point proving that Fender's MIM line is the worst deal in their entire lineup. This neck is OK but not great. Frets needed some end dressing and polishing. It has a super thick clearcoat and the fretboard is dry as a bone. It's about on par with my recently manufactured squier, which costs less *for an entire guitar*. However, it's a specialty product at the end of the day and I didn't mind paying a little more for an odd and probably low-volume product. The one thing totally unacceptable thing, however, is the nut. First of all, why aren't they the right gauge??? Fender sells this neck on a factory baritone, which presumably needs to work with their factory baritone strings, so why is this one cut for normal gauge guitar strings? Gauge aside, the slots look like they were filed by someone who'd never seen a guitar before. The spacing is all over the place with the high-E sitting so far down that it hits my hand when I play an open chord. It's also just absurdly tall and squared off to the point that you'd spend less time shaping and sanding a blank. And the blank would probably be a better choice because it wouldn't come with random slots filed into it. I've owned a number of budget guitars over the years and this is absolutely the worst nut I've ever seen.

I didn't like that the fretboard was covered in clear coat, but I haven't been able to play it to find out if that would be a real problem. I installed it, had every thing ready to go, but I couldn't string it up. the string holes in standard machine pegs will not take the 0.72 baritone strings. Good luck finding tuners that will, I've been searching for months.

Fit my tele cabronita body perfectly. Press in tight fit right out of the box, frets we’re level and beautifully crowned. Obviously, as fender does, had to file the nut to fit up. Strung up a set of 13-68 and tuned to B standard.
