It's a good field hockey ball. It has dimples like a golf ball. I am not sure why - but they don't affect the ball. I watched the video to learn why the ball has dimples - but I did not get an answer. If you play field hockey but want to pretend you are golfing, this is the ball for you.

I got this for my fetch obsessed dog. He kept getting blockages because of traditional tennis balls This takes a beating and keeps going. Probably the ball he’s had the longest ever

OK, full disclosure... I don't play field hockey, I don't even know anyone personally who plays field hockey, but I am a HUGE fan and attend about a dozen matches each fall. This ball will probably never get touched with a field hockey stick, or even see a playing field. I got this as a decorative piece and for that, it works perfectly. If I had a trophy case, I would put it there. Instead, I tried to display it in our living room, hoping my wife wouldn't notice it. She did. So now it sits in a drawer. I think I'll take it to work and put it on my desk there. I'll need to come up with a story that I can tell people if anyone asks why I have a field hockey ball on my desk. Suggestions welcome.

My son is learning to play hockey with his in line skates and he really likes this ball to play on our neighborhood road which isn't the smoothest. It is a well made, high quality ball.

When I opened the package the ball struck me as being slightly softer than a normal field hockey ball. It didn't have give to it in that I couldn't squeeze or squish it, but the outer plastic layer felt like it was a different plastic formulation; closer to the milk carton end of the spectrum than the brittle/hard end.My daughter plays outdoor field hockey and after her and her team used it during a practice the consensus from the team was that it was hard to control compared to their normal balls. I'm not sure if indoor field hockey uses different balls, but I haven't seen anything about them being different. If they are different, perhaps this is built for indoor field hockey.
