The stove is small and lightweight and seems sturdy. Finish is excellent and looks well made. It regulates well and has a nice roar. It does not come with a bag or case. The pot is compact and the heat exchanger makes it a fast t boiler and you use less gas. It is ideal for one person and the slots, of you have a compatible stove, allow the burner to sit in the heat exchanger unit. This does supply a bit of a windshield and has protected the flame on a blustery hillside. The lid looks to be tritan and will not melt but does stick a bit after boiling. It has a silicone pot grab, strain/steam holes and a locking pot handle. Quality bit of kit all round.I originally bought this for my wife but I will sometimes borrow it for my solo trips.

The petrel boils water faster than I expected! I boiled 1 cup in under 2mins. It was crazy fast. My only gripe was that my hornet 2 that came with it was fairly loose and rattling when the arms were in the open position and bottom of arms in the little notches. Good news is it was an easy fix. I simply took some needle nose pliers on the base of the arms and bent them down slightly so that the arms would have a little resistance while fully extending them. Now there is kind of "click" into place feel when I fully open the arms.

Gone are the days of a pot of boiling water sliding off your stove in the dark. So light, so compact, and it boils water CRAZY fast. I wish I had this a decade ago. So worth the money if you like your camp kitchen simple.

Love everything about this setup minus a few things. The first thing I would change is the cannister stove. The way the pot supports are just make it unstable. The second thing that I would change is the cutouts on the pot. The three that are on there fit a few stoves such as the Soto Windmaster (one of my all time favorites), but I would put a few more cutouts on the bottom to fit stoves such as the MSR Pocket Rocket! That's it though everything else is great! A larger version in the future would also be great to fit 230g cans in!

Pot is amazing for solo hiking, but the spoon is mediocre, flint is bad and burner is awful. Your pot will try to escape it every time you use it. Actually you will need to hold it all the time to not spill anything. For better experience use the pot with firemaple polaris burner.

The package is pretty nice, and I really like the pot (with an exception). The Hornet 2 burner is ok, very light, and very loud. The Soto Windmaster fits as well and is what I prefer. My realy problem is the pot lid sticks very tight after boiling. It's loose to begin, but once the lid and pot get hot, it can't be removed without prying or waiting to cool.

Been looking for this pot to become available in Australia since its launch. Boiled 500mls of room temperature water in under 4:30 minutes. Cools very quickly when finished cooking. Gas canister, burner, spoon and ferrous rod fit nicely inside as advertised. The pot does wobble a bit when one places it on burner but I found this to be no problem. I simply held the gas canister as I placed or removed the pot. This is my second Fire Maple product and I am very happy with them.

This has worked great for our needs this Summer while camping.I'm definitely not a camp stove aficionado, and this is my first one of this design. Typically we take a name brand two burner stove camping but it's a bit cumbersome. And we usually eat freeze dried food when camping so we really only need to boil water. And boiling water this stove does really well. I was concerned about using this type of fuel since the canisters are small, but they last a long time for us if just boiling water.I know in some reviews people have compared this to a well known brand of this design, but I have no experience with that. I just know that this is very convenient for our needs. It's light and packs up small so it doesn't take up a lot of room. If I was a serious hiker, I'd definitely take this along.Overall we're very happy with it. I honestly don't know if the $74.95 price is a good deal or not. I suppose when compared to the well known brand, it is. But pricing can be subjective and whether the products value is worth the price.

This might just be a new contender. For section hiking or thru-hiking weight is always a looming factor in any gear selection. I've gone a little heavy with a Jetboil the last few years but it is just so nice and efficient. This addresses one of the primary advantages of the Jetboil style system. The fins welded onto the bottom of the heating pot. These allow efficient heat transfer into the liquid in the pot. This is the reason I was able to use a single isobutane can, the small one mind you, for six to eight days before I needed to replace the fuel. This cookpot has the same heat fin design. And it has a means of affixing the cookpot to the stove unit with cutouts meant for the arms to lock onto so the cookpot is stable on the stove. This leads to the next thing to talk about. The stove unit has retractable arms which also slide up and down the main shaft. At the top the arm mechanism twists clockwise to hold the arms in the top position. This is an excellent idea. I would prefer if it had one or all of the slides to have a detent drop to lock the height. As it is, fiddling with the cookpot can wind up turning the arms (locked into the heating fins) and dropping the whole stove configuration onto the heating surface. A little detent would prohibit this. If you mind this it isn't a problem and the useful factor far outweighs any bad points. The stove screws onto a standard isobutane fuel can just like any other stove attachment. I kind of miss the piezo start on the Jetboil, but either a lighter or this magnesium sparker works fine. It does take both hands to attend to the sparker which means you have to turn on the gas and then set yourself up to spark. Not really a problem, just something to be aware of. I'll take the sparker, but I'll probably use a small butane lighter as my ignition source. The folding spork is fine for short bowls, but it is too short to properly stir something in this cookpot and reach the bottom. Or using rehydration meals out on trail I prefer the long handled titanium sporks. This one is nice though and when it folds out and you move the brace near the hinge it is sturdy as a one piece unit. I just prefer a longer handled tool. The one thing this kit does need is a fuel can stabilizer. They are plastic and lightweight and go a very long way to keeping a cookpot from tipping over on uneven ground. There was none listed in the description so it isn't a star removal point. But getting one would be helpful on the trail. There is room for it to fit in the pot with the fuel can and other parts.Another thing I find I like to do with these is to use a terry or other lightweight rag and I wrap up everything inside to keep it from banging around while on the trail. This cook kit has survived garrison use well. This is going to take lead cookware on my next section hike. This is less than a third of the weight of my current system and has all the advantages of my current system. This is an excellent piece of ultralight equipment.
