It shelf is very poor quality for the price. It's not level across its length. For instance, with the mounting beam. It is level on the first 1/2-3/4 but then not level at the other end. Makes it difficult to get hung as close to level as possible. (It is possible, just much harder than it would be with a quality item)The finish itself, leaves much to be desired... Chips along the edges, that have no stain on them, no effort to stain all the nail holes from its construction.Honestly you can build this yourself for less than half this cost and even without talent, probably come out with something that looks as good.

Awesome Mantle. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect because this seemed like an odd thing to order online, and not make myself or pick up from a wood working store. However, it was very nicely built. Solid construction, it had the scent of cedar, and took a stain beautifully. Hanging it was also a piece of cake.

First of all, I’m not much of a DIYer, so I’m waiting for my son to have time to help me hang this. This is a bit too much for me to do by myself, so I can’t say anything about the process of mounting it on the wall. Once we do get it hung, I will come back and tell about it. I will be using this strictly as a floating shelf as I don’t have a fireplace. It does come with instructions.Second, the appearance. In the ad, it looked more polished. It looks more rustic in real life. It does describe it as being a rustic, traditional, wooden fireplace mantle, but I’m just saying that to me, it looks a little bit more rustic in real life than in the picture. It’s totally fine if this is the look that you were wanting. Also, one could always refinish it with stain or paint if you wanted to change the look. It appears to be well made as far as edges lining up, etc.This was on sale for 94.99 when I ordered it. I see now it’s selling for 160.99, which seems too high to me. Idk what the going rate of mantles is, but it seems like a lot to me.I do like this and think it will be a great look to display things. Not sure about the value for the price.

This floating mantle is ok-ish but I wood expecting more for the price. The finishing holes were left unfilled across the entire beam on the top & bottom all the way across and the corners were scraped up. Mediocre quality.
