That you can measure out how long a piece of wood you need for a fire, or whatever you're going to use it for. It's sturdy and easy to use.

I like this tool, and the idea of it. I find it not as practical as I'd hoped.I cut 12, 14,16 and 18 length logs. This tool helps speed up the sectioning of a log into proper sizes. However it does not lock at a desired length. So...when I put the saw down I often have to remeasure the length when I pick it back up again.--ended up taping the bar. This makes the entire process not much better than a handsaw and tape measure method. Unless one leaves the tool at the end of the blade the tool has to be removed when the cutting process begins and one again needs to remeasure length. The extension tube is not strong and it will break quickly in the field. The tool lacks either a shaft locking mechanism, or some external measurement along the tool shaft so I can quickly put it at the desired length and do my work.

Fell apart in 20 minutes, didn't stick to the bar strong enough and was made out of tin type weak metal. I'm mean the idea was great but the product was seriously lacking.....

Use this to gauge firewood so every piece is the same length making wood ricks more uniform.

So far, this has not fallen off, and to keep vibration from changing the length I taped over the sliding parts. So far, so good. The magnet is powerful enough it hasn't moved or fallen off in use, but mine the length varied because of the vibration of the saw. Tape solved that. There are a ton of versions of this, and it works pretty well, though I'm not sure I actually *need* it.But if I find I don't going forward, I have a couple of ideas to repurpose it.
