I bought and used one of these spears hunting lion fish on the reef around San Andres Island. I was so impressed with it I bought a second one for my stepson to use. It is a close range and therefore safe trigger fired speargun/Hawaiian sling that is extremely effective for harvesting lion fish. Our dive master has been equally impressed and said he considers it the best of all makes and styles he has seen.

Good material. Only good for Bahamas, every were else you can use something better, the range is very short, and the tip is just the trident.

I bought this before the price started to go up but I love this thing. already used it multiple times and it still works with no issues. assembly is straight forward and like the bag it comes in. it makes it easy to pack and travel with. easy to store as well. I definitely recommend this.

NOT FOR HUNTING FROM A DISTANCE This is not something you can use unless you can put the spear inches away from the fish. When you release the trigger, the spear only goes forward about two feet then stops because of the spring in the back. You could remove the spring and that will give you an extra foot.I tried it and could not get close enough to puncture any fish. I hit a few but they just bounced right off because I wasn't close enough. Also the little grooves on the back of the grip... Horrible!! Why would you put those there? Does not serve a purpose and tears your hands up.I will probably return and get a regular pole spear.

Thisos awesome, honestly I haven't used it fishing yet but I will update when I do.I can tell it's nice and compact, the extra tip I bought fits perfectly and also fits my significant other's Hawaiian sling he bought that was a different kind...These things are pretty powerful and easy to fold down and put away...

The product looks sturdy and well made but the designed is flawed. It’s very difficult to load and difficult to hold while loaded. It’s heavy in the back. Also the recoil is severe. If they make this out of carbon fiber maybe will work better. It’s a great idea but not there yet in the construction

i LOVE this sling spear. Went to the bahamas for 3 weeks and used it every day. I thought it would be hard to get close enough to shoot, but this thing is so accurate. Easy to load and just press the trigger. Reset within 30 seconds so you don't miss your prey. Just pull back and click in place. I have 2 bands attached to mine and usually only use one, but if you need more power, you can easily attach the second band while hunting, I am able to keep it armed at all times without having to hold the stretched sling like a normal sling spear. Can't say enough good things. Love the carry case as well. Just remember, always wash it with soapy water when you get out of the ocean.

I live on St. Croix and go diving for lionfish every weekend. When I first received the spear I found it to be bulky and awkward. I found it difficult to reload and felt it long and heavy. At first, I regretted buying it but after a few tries, I found that I can balance it on one finger and the reloading just took some practice. After rotating between my 3ft pole speak and this one I found the 3 ft pole lacking the reach to get lionfish in hiding in the coral. I also found that the trigger on this pole gave me much more accuracy.I also do most of my diving on a dive boat so being able to break it down and put it together in less than a minute made it easier and safer to carry on and off the boat. Soon this became my go-to spear. i use one band and find that for lionfish it is excellent because it strikes fast but does not over-penetrate and damage the coral. The drawback is that it does not use universal 6mm tips and replacement tips are hard to find so I will be purchasing an adapter. I also find that the material tends to rust even with daily washing, so I have sprayed it with PAM cooking spray to help protect it from oxidizing. And finally, the barbed tips that come with it are very long. I cut them in half and sharpened them with a grinder. In all, I am satisfied with the purchase but think an 89.00 price would be an ideal price point. I have had it now for about three months and it does a great job it is always a conversation piece when I take it on the boat.
