I do lure painting on YouTube (FishingPhilosophy) and love this product for protecting my paint jobs. I put the flex coated lures on a slow spinner for 3 hours then let it cure for about 24 hours. This flex coat is easy to mix in small quantities using the provided syringes, easy to apply - I use cheap flux brushes and finishes with a very strong completely clear coat. I recommend good ventilation and using a respirator mask when mixing and applying this product.

I have an old St Croix Rod that was missing a guide, so I thought I would try my hand at re-wrapping. I used some epoxy from the box store and it looked terrible. I bought the Flex Coat kit and it arrived quickly. The results were far superior to the other brand at a decent price, with sufficient quantity to wrap several rods.

I am not a "sportsman" but I like fishing. I bought a 10-pound fixer-upper rod at a pawn shop which is cool cause I like to fix things. Flex Coat works but I only give it 3 stars cause of the BS around the "wear your hip-waders sportsmans' instructions". Also, one of the syringes was leaking and required special attention.Contrary to instructions, I: Used a wooden swizel stick in a shortened paper cup to mix it in, used MEK and not acetone for a cleaner/thinner (works great), ignored the "mixing till the milky part disappears" and simply got the proportions right and stopped after a minute or so, and finally, coated the 2 cracked hoods on the rod after wrapping heavy string around them (see image).So after some effort and poor instructions, all the guides, the missing top guide I re-wrapped, the hoods - they all turned out beautifully and I love my restored $10 rod!

I have been building rods for almost 20 years, and have tried just about every brand there is, but I keep coming back to Flex Coat. If you are not a seasoned rod builder, use the high build formula. It is a thicker formula, so it is much easier to control, and is more forgiving that the low build, which is thinner, and has a tendency to build up in the middle if you use too much, creating a high spot. Your coating will be more even using the high build.

Good product.Works good and looks good when done. The mix is a little thin consistancyand takes a long while to set, so you will need to sit there and keep turning the rod by hand slowly to keep it from running on the underside of the rod. If you have a motorized rod wrapper is no problem...just let the rod rotate slowly until set.You will need a a few coats to build it up ( 2-3)Other than that Very good product.
