The size of the duster is perfect for dusting bread dough with rice flour. The small size of the perforation allows for a nice dusting compared to the sifter I was using. My sifter would coat the dough surface too heavily.

This neat little flour/powder sugar duster works! I love having this on the table when I serve french toast and let my family sprinkle their own powder sugar on their meal. Everyone gets a kick out of it. It is made of stainless steel, is dishwasher safe, and is a handy little kitchen tool.

Flour Duster for Baking, Stainless Steel Flour Shaker Duster, 304 Stainless Steel Powdered Sugar Shaker Duster, Pick Up and Dust Flour Sifter, Flour Powder Filter SpoonThis is simply a perfect tool for my needs, which include sprinkling confectioners sugar and flour on baked items, dough and my prep mats. I’m planning to also test it with my coarser colored sugars. My other dusters all have holes that are too large and using my hand to sprinkle was not much better. Even my small strainers failed to give me the control that this item does, because the ingredient would begin to sift through as soon as it was put inside. This filtering spoon has a solid half that you can fill. A turn of the bottom of the handle covers that with the perforated side. No more dough that’s over floured, no more sweets with clumps of sugar on top. It’s hard to believe that this inexpensive tool could solve those problems. My only concern with it is that the twisting action, that opens and closes the spoon, might fail after being used repeatedly. I don’t see a way to repair it, but definitely will explore that if it does stop working.

This is the perfect tool for dusting your homemade pastries with powdered sugar! For years I've used my mom's old small wire strainer, which is sized perfectly for draining the liquid out of canned veggies. But using that for dusting powdered sugar was always messy, too much came out and some always shook out over the open edged top, This tool works perfectly though and is a welcome addition to my kitchen. I love how you can place the sugar in and while holding it straight, turn the bottom half of the white handle, which closes the solid metal 1/2 circle around over the top of the sifter. Then you can shake out as much or as little onto your pastries as you want. The tool is very well made and I expect it to last and be passed down in the family just as my mom's treasured tools came to me.

Unless you do a lot of baking (cookies especially) you'll probably hardly ever use this nicely made device. But whenever you do need it, you'll find you have the perfect tool to dust flour or powdered sugar. That was where I found myself this Christmas as I baked several types of cookies for the holidays. Yes, you can use a small sieve; but the holes are really too large and tend to drop clumps. Sprinkling by hand is even more unsatisfying. This duster, though, shows how valuable a well-designed tool can be. First, the handle is plenty long enough to easily reach into the bottom of a box of confectioners sugar. Simply dip it into your flour or sugar, twist the handle, and the sprinkler captures all the ingredients into the small globe.Giving the duster a few shakes or taps produces a perfect dusting with an evenly distributed, discrete pattern that is easy to control whether you're dusting a small individual cookie or the top of a bread loaf. For the reasonable price of $13, this is a tool that you'll appreciate no matter how much (or how little) you use it.
