Actual Socket Diameter of a 1" Slip Tee Fitting
Why is are PVC fitting sockets bigger than their named size?
PVC sizes get their name from the inner diameter of the PVC pipe as they are nominal, or 'in name only'. If you add the thickness of the wall on each side of the pipe, the outside diameter of the PVC pipe will always be larger that the actual PVC size.
What will this 1" Slip Sling Tee fit?
Important PVC Size Information
This 1" Slip Sling Hinge Tee Furniture Grade PVC Fitting will fit over the end of standard 1" Size Schedule 40 plumbing-grade or Furniture Grade PVC pipe, which has an outside diameter of 1.315" or 1-5/16".
- Connects to 1" PVC pipe structures that require articulation, such as greenhouse doors or flip-up covers
- Has two sockets, once that is standard and the other is pass-through.
- Fits standard 1" Schedule 40 PVC pipe.
- Not compatible with CTS or CPVC style pipe, EMT conduit or wood dowels.
How to Use Slip Sling PVC Tee Fittings
When to use Slip Tees in your Project
Furniture Grade Slip Sling Tees connect two segments of PVC Pipe perpendicularly, with one end being static and the other being movable. Slip Tees are best used when building doors, flip-up elements, or other parts of a PVC structure that need to articulate or rotate, like a hinge.
Insert the Pipe into the Static End of the Slip Tee
Cut your PVC pipe segments to size, align the PVC pipe with the static Slip Tee socket and press it onto the pipe. Tap into place with a mallet or hammer to secure. If preferred, you can use clear PVC cement for a secure and permanent fit: Apply a small amount inside the static socket of the Slip Tee PVC fitting before insertion.
Insert another Pipe Segment into the Larger Socket
Insert another PVC pipe segment perpendicularly into the slip socket of the Slip Tee. At this point, the other pipe should rotate freely around the slip socket allowing articulation of the connection. You can secure the slip socket with a small screw or fastener if need be.

Slides and pivots easily on 1 inch pvc. We used it to create a folding drying rack to attach to a fence post. Great for towels and bathing suits, etc.

I purchased a 1” slip tee, because my rods are 3/4”. I need both rods to slide through the opening. The Formufit 1” is too large and does not fit securely around the rods. I am going to try Formufit 3/4”, which is the same size as the diameter of my rods, to see if it will work.

I used these to make front doors on a PVC shed I made for storeage. After using them, I now have plans to build a reclining 2 seat bench for my "dog house". (The big shed I built so I have a place to go when the wife wants to throat punch me). These work really well and the material is noticeably better than the PVC connectors available from the local big box home improvement stores and they are close to the same price. Check out the seller's website for a complete list of what they sell. With their fittings and some PVC pipe, you can build some amazing stuff. Lots of videos on YouTube also.

I used these to make giant tinker toys for my 7 y/o daughter. I used a different color for each different style of fitting so they are color coded. She loves it! It's just like the giant tinker toy set I had when I was a kid which you can't buy anymore. The pipes stick together pretty snug in these fitting but can be pulled apart pretty easy too. So far she has made a helicopter chair that she can sit on (but it doesn't actually fly), several forts (one which I can stand up in!) and some sort of Chinese jump rope court which I don't even understand lol

Perfect for my dogs pool side bed! I thought that i was going to have to glue this connector but it's actually hollow allowing the PVC to pass right through it! This was great as it made her bed even stronger!
