Defective!! Sounds like a jet engine @ 30000 rpms. The clutch stays engaged and will increase in speed with engine rpms and becomes extremely loud! I will be returning this fan clutch for a refund.

Fixed my overheating issue at idle.This unit IS really loud - it engages initially at startup and then disengages after a couple tenths of a mile once the engine is still warming up. We are in really hot weather right now, and once it engages in this hot weather, it doesn't disengage at speed. I am used to clutches that disengage above 2000 RPM, but this one doesn't at any speed - this is what makes it so loud. I am thinking I should have spent $110 and bought the AC Delco. At least the truck doesn't overheat anymore.

This worked perfectly for my '06 Chevrolet Express 3500 Van which has the 6.0L engine. Installation was easy (for a van) and it solved my temperature issues. As a side note, you should replace this clutch along with the water pump when the time comes. It is not much more work to replace both at the same time along with the coolant and thermostat on these engines so you might as well do the whole package.
