Many cheese planes are made of two pieces, the handle and the blade. After time the connection point 'can' wear out and breaks. Being one piece, this one will hold up for ever. Great for many wash cycles.

This was a very inexpensive product that I brought in 2011 after tossing several other options. I use a cheese plane frequently. I am shopping for a knife set for my brother and thought I recognized the brand name. I was surprised at how few reviews the brand seems to have, so I am adding this one. It's not a special cheese plane by any means, but it does the job. I may take a chance on the three knife set for my brother as he covets my Faberware cheese knife and the set has a cheese knife it in in addition to the plane. I don't put any knife or anything wooden in the dishwasher. The cheese plane pretty much looks like it does in its picture. I don't use it for soft cheeses. I use it for Swiss and cheddar, occasionally for Parmesan. It does not work well on smoked Gouda, that's a bit too soft.

Wasn't exactly what we wanted but it is a fine product.

Cutting blade not sharp enough for hard cheeses. Hard cheese breaks off in clumps instead of slicing off neatly.

Good value. Cuts cheese a little thinly

I bought this to replace a similar one that someone accidentally tossed out. The wood handle is durable and the blade has just the perfect angle for slicing cheese. Just one word of warning: it is very sharp! It slides easily through the five different types of cheese we've used it on, but it has also sliced the hand or finger of every person who used it for the first time. Give itthe credit it is due as a knife blade, not your typical flimsy cheese slicer and you will love this.We have used it on cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, mozzarella, and Monterey Jack with great results.

A good sturdy slicer but is a little on the dull side. Works great with firm cheese but not so well on softer varieties. Still a good buy for the price

This is exactly what I was looking for. We have a farmers' market that we go to where a local farm sells fresh locally made cheese. The woman at the stand always uses a cheese plane to cut the hard cheeses and I wanted one to use when I brought the delicious cheese home. This works perfectly, just like the one the lady at the market uses. :) I am very happy with the price and the quality. It's exactly what I wanted.

I recently bought both this cheese plane and a Henckels for about twice the price. Both will work, but this one feels cheap and the metal pieces rattle since they aren't tight. The only advantage this plane has over the Henckels is that this one is slightly wider and so will work for slightly thicker blocks of cheese than the other plane. So if you're only concerned with getting a cheap plane that will work, this is the answer, but if you want a plane that feels solid and looks good, the Henckels should be your choice.

This tool does what it is supposed to do: it cuts hard cheese into consistently thin slices. I bought it side by side with the Amazon's prettier "Sagaform Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer with Oak Handle". The second, although prettier, did not cut Jarlsberg cheese. Rather, its excessively flexible cutting gap just collapsed under normal hand pressure, leading the cutter to scrap along the top of the cheese. Stick with this better-made and better-designed Taiwan knockoff.

I purchased this plane to replace the one that I used for over 40 years, only because the wooden handle fell off. Overall this Fox Run cheese plane does the job, slicing cheese smoothly, as long as there is more and 3/8" of an inch of cheese to work with with. Once your base piece drops below this, this plane has trouble and cannot to the job. That said, in this price range, this is the best cheese plane I have used.

This is a good one, but still not as great as the old Ikea one I was trying to replace (they have a new version of the old one out that isn't as good). This cuts an appropriately thin slice of cheese (the Ikea one sliced a little thicker, for better or worse), but is slightly - just slightly - flimsy on the pull.
