The game is just like the one from Pirates of the Caribbean! But the cups are covered in a paper that is barely glued on, and my box came with a whole corner worn off. Definitely a fun game but poor quality materials. You could probably just make it with some dice and a kitchen bowl instead!

This is a fun game for everyone to play. It involves a little bit of strategy and a little bit of bluffing. I didn’t know how to play liars dice before this but the instructions are very simple and easy to understand. There are enough cups and dice for four people to play but you can add more with additional dice (and cups). The game involves players taking turns in a clockwise fashion calling out a die value and a number for how many of that value they think all of the players have (e.g. 3 2s, 4 5s, etc.). Every player after that person has to either increase the bid (either by going up in the amount or the value) OR call the last person a liar. If the person claims “liar”, all players reveal their dice and if there is at least that many dice, that individual loses the round. If there are NOT at least that many dice, the “liar” loses the round. The box is neat and the dice are compact. The cups are nice too but my main complaint is that the lining of the cups was coming off on two of them. A little hot glue fixed it right up but they aren’t great quality. But definitely a fun game.

I got exactly what I thought I was ordering. The dice are pretty small but that's to be expected and is useful for travelling. The cups are lower on the quality size but they're holding up pretty good and we've played a lot of this game so far. The box is gorgeous, smooth and shiny. Overall it's pretty good and we've had no issues with it. ^-^

Considering the cost, it is a value. I find it asthetetically appealing too.The cups are plastic with stickers, the dice are small, and the box is cheaply built, but, you get what you pay for. The game is still fun.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and because it had so many bad reviews relating to the actual quality of the product, I decided to open it up first to make sure it would be acceptable. I don't understand the bad reviews at all, this is a great little set!. The set that I received looks exactly like the picture, and the quality seems good enough especially at this price. The only (minor) complaint I could make is that the wrappers around the cups were peeling back a tiny bit. Really not a big deal at all, I wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't been scrutinizing the package. Yes the dice included are smaller than normal but so are the cups, so they fit in well and they're large enough that they're easy to read on all sides. The dice come in their own bag and the whole set is packed into a really cute wooden box. The included cups are felt lined and two different sizes, as shown in the picture, so that they can fit neatly into the box. My husband and I played a quick game on it, the game itself is simple, but LOADS of fun. Looking forward to giving this to my son on Christmas morning so the whole family can play together!

About the game: This is a great game. If you enjoy poker, you will definitely enjoy this game as it is just like Liar's Poker except with dice. For all aspiring poker players, I cannot recommend this game enough. The best part about this game is that, like Bocci ball, everyone can easily play this game and stand a fair chance of winning. This is great news for poker players as it provides ample practice at reading your opponents and having a game that anyone is willing to play (yes, you can easily take bets) provides access to many different types of opponents. From my experience, women seem to do better at this game then the majority of men I have played with due to women generally being able to read body language better than their counter parts. I remember one night where I played without ever looking at my dice just to throw the wolves off from detecting what I was thinking (simple mathematics I used on my part). Sadly I only won one game out of the six or seven we played, but I stumped them! And lost my money...Bottom line for the game: Great game, learn the rules (very easy to pick up), and keep some dice around at all times as a backup plan for those times that you may be stuck with company and nothing is happening and you need a time killer.About the actual product listed on this page ( 2 stars ): While my rating might seem high, it is only because Amazon does not let me rate the quality of the product, just its 'educational value' and 'fun factor'. If I were to rate the quality of the product, I would give it two stars. While the little box is cute, there are only four cups, two large and two small. The large cups seem to be better suited to the game for rolling the dice as they do not tend to stack on each other when you flip the cup on the table. The little cup tends to stack the dice on each other due to there being no room for them to bounce around. The dice are 12mm and work just fine. I am not sure how someone stated that the 6 pips on the dice took up the whole side: that is nonsense unless they had a defect. The size of the box seems inefficient: there is more space then necessary to hold the items so they will move around. You may want to put some padding in there unless you keep the dice in the tiny bag that is provided.I recommend just purchasing a set of 12mm dice like this: (or if your older, you may want bigger dice), and some small plastic or even foam cups that are stackable. Not only will you get more dice and be able to support more players, it is also more portable as it takes up less space (stack the cups, put the dice in the top one, couple rubber bands over the top and presto, portable Liar's Dice).Bottom line for the product: If you can find it in a bargain bin for $5, go for it. Otherwise, just buy the dice and cups separately.

When I first opened it, I thought the dice were a little small at 7/16", but my second thought is that they are the right size for the game. Mine came in a fairly heavy tie-top canvas bag.The shaker cups I received are wood, not plastic like the item description says. They are a nice dark walnut color, and seem quite sturdy. The insides are not smooth, but not disturbingly rough either. I actually found them to be a nice surprise. Two small details to note about the hinges - my game came with one extra brass screw rattling around inside the box...I'm assuming it's a deliberate addition. It was nice for the manufacturer to think of, but it could have easily been lost if I hadn't heard it while I was trying to figure out how to open the outer cardboard box (which opens from the side). Also, when the lid is open, it lays flat, not tilted up like in the photo. Probably irrelevant, but might affect your display options. And you will probably want to display this game on your coffee table, just like it says on the box, as it is a very neat little item.Overall quality: 5 stars. I can't rate the enjoyment value, as I haven't played it yet - I bought it mainly as a unique display piece.
