The purpose of these are to save money on electricity when it warms up. Well don’t trust them. I tried to save 30 bucks a month using this and it’s gonna cost me thousands to fix the water damage I got from it not functioning correctly. It’s been below 30 for 2 weeks now and I was wondering why I have an ice dam and water inside attic. Well it’s because these are junk.

I did not install this item, so I cannot say whether or not the installation was easy. We use this thermostat to control a heater attached to our generator. The generator is outside of course, in a little shed. We live in an area where temperatures can reach -40C in winter. We experience frequent power failures, so for those of us who live in this area, a generator is a must. The heater is attached to the generator -- don't ask me how -- and the thermostat controls when the heater turns on or off. When temperatures go below freezing, the thermostat kicks in and turns on the little heater. This ensures that we can (remote) start the generator easily, no matter what the temperature. This past winter was particularly severe, so it was a pretty good test for the thermostat. It never let us down -- more than value for money.

When it works it’s great. I bought 4. 2 lasted and 2 failed. I need another so I’m buying 2 for insurance since the probability is 50%. Great for well house, chicken coop, RV heater. Bad when then don’t work. Good news they fail fast so toss it. Also good when they work, they’ll last a long time.

Seems good so far I hope the hold up, only problem I have is how they are designed, if it was vertical instead of horizontal they would fit probably in an in-use exterior plug box
