This is a dry contact relay. Touch the two striped wires together to activate. The relay needs its own power source(Hot and Neutral) to function. The black and white wires on the unit do NOT get passed to the relay contacts. Typically you would wire Yellow to HOT, and Orange or Blue to the device you want to control. If you wire your device to Blue, the device will be powered UNTIL you short the dry contact. If you wire your device to Orange, the device will be powered only WHEN you short the dry contactI like that it's 20Amp rated. I used this to switch off my washing machine's power, if the water level in my laundry sink got too high (from a clogged or blocked drain). I simply wired the dry contacts to a normally closed stainless steel float switch, and wired the washing machines hot to Normally Open (Orange)

This product came dead on arrival. I installed the relay and wired. Turned on and no indicator light and no click for the relay. Looks like I was sold a broken item. Do yourselves a favor and buy a relay elsewhere.

I installed 2 receptacles and relays to control power to them as required by ESA/ inspector for new build. Plugged a light strip installed in the top of the garage cabinet so I know plugs are energized when the switches make dry contact. Will update and add photos and inspection results once at completion. The only negative comment is an issue of concern is that even though the spec and packaging says 20A@ 120v, the relay label says 20A at 277v and 1hp (15A at 120v)? If the inspector doesn’t like the ambiguity and requires replacement I’ll be very dissatisfied.

Received this item, bench tested it before installing, hooked up neutral and hot wires the red status light did not come on had no continuity on the normally open wires. From what I’ve seen on YouTube the screws which I didn’t get in the package but did get the nut to secure it to an electrical box. Will be purchasing the next relay from a local distributor at im sure a higher price but at least it will be new and work.

I should have installed this controller 10 years ago to control a cistern pump that supplies an irrigation system. I wired the dry contacts of this controller to a standard sump float switch to shut off the pump if cistern tank is critically low. Without the controller, about 7A of power ran through the float switch when pump was on. Although the wiring and float switch are rated at 10A, the wiring eventually gave out. This controller is well engineered for industrial use and I am very happy with the documentation. Very easy to install. It pulls something like 5w through the float switch and should last a very long time.

Unit was DOA, quick Ohmmeter check of the coil after wiring the unit in revealed an “open” circuit - meaning coil will not pass the voltage needed to energize the contact. Have contacted the seller to see what they will do. Will update when I get a response.UPDATE: contacted the device manufacturer directly as seller never responded. Turns out that there was an additional connection required (low voltage coil activation contact - wht/rd & wht/blu wires need a wire nut or dry contact to energize the coil). Anyways, the engineer emailed me a link that had wiring diagrams which explained all and the device is operating as expected. 5 stars for the device. 1 star for the seller due to lack of response.

Clear instructions and colored wires make an easy hook up. There is a 2 to 3 second delay when the dry contacts are connected and when the relay kicks in to turn on AC devices. That's strange because I built a circuit to do the same thing an it turns on the AC devices instantly.
