The holes in press are just holes in the metal. If I were a sumo wrestler, it might work! It is a pain to use

This garlic press is a joy to use. I crush mine on the bottom of a sturdy, flat ceramic dish so I don't lose any garlic to a cutting board and it transfers easily. If a person had weak wrists or arthritis, I could see how it might be challenging to crush the garlic, but I found it very easy! I am a woman and it didn't seem that I had to apply unusual pressure to crush the cloves. Actually the cup/plunger typical garlic presses could be difficult for someone with small hands or arthritis. You have to squeeze those pretty hard. My only complaint is I wish the holes were a little smaller so the garlic pieces were smaller for blending into recipes like salad dressing or hummus. I would have given it 5 stars then, but I am still delighted with this device. The ease of just rocking and pressing it over the garlic is so much more fun than the conventional presses and it's easy to clean, so I don't think I'll ever go back to the other kind. I like the other features too as a kale and herb stripper. Plus I like that I can hang it on the wall instead of taking up drawer space. Had never tried the silicone tube peeler before. I am stunned at how well it works! You have to apply a little pressure when rolling garlic cloves in it, and then out pops clean garlic, or at least the peelings are easy to pluck off. The whole system will make cooking with garlic a different adventure and so much more enjoyable! Seems to be made of quality steel. Very sturdy with a nice weight. Should last a lifetime.UPDATE: the other day I had extra large garlic cloves. Not elephant garlic, but these babies were the size of olives, and firm! I did have more of a challenge with them because they were resistant to pressure. Had to use my bamboo cutting board because they slid on the plate, and I ended up needing to cut them in half. Then they finally smashed like a charm. So some of the inconsistent reviews may have to do with the various types of garlic out there. I still stand by my 4 stars. It's just that big firm garlic cloves may require adjustments.

Historically I've used the clamp type garlic press, and they don't work well or last. Had 2 and they both became defective after a couple of uses. Tried this type and I'll never go back. It's easy to use, effective, and super easy to clean.

I like it! Better than past garlic presses. The rocker is quick and easy to use. Appreciate the monimalist design. Affordable. Solid, quality, expect it to last my lifetime. Occasionally have to punch out leftover bits with a toothpick but I'm okay with that -- it's still easier than the standard press. The silicone sleeve is surprisingly effective at removing peels. The herb stripper didn't work on parsley or cilantro; perhaps a woodier rosemary or savory?Haven't tried the bottle opener. The garlic press is worth the price alone.

The reason why you should buy this product (vs the other options) is because the whole item is solid metal. The old press we had was half plastic/ half metal and broke in half after a year of use in our home kitchen. The only complaint we have about this fully-metal one is that the handle is hollow and water gets in it when washed; but if you're diligent to let it air out before storing it, there shouldn't be any issues. I'd definitely recommend this product; garlic presses save so much time and this one is a sturdy option.

Didn’t press all the garlic and was time consuming.

It is easier to use a knife and chop. Takes a lot of pressure to achieve smashed garlic
