The vacuum source of the Heogger Milking System is the Gast brand rotary vane vacuum pump. The manufacturer, Gast, recommends on page 5 of the Gast Operation Manual, using this Gast AD220 oil ( they list as a substitute, using a 10wt high detergent oil) Personally, I always use what the manufacturers recommend and shy away from substitutions. Glad to see that Amazon Prime has it - makes it easy!

This oil was specified for a GAST vacuum pump used in a milking machine to milk goats. None of the local hardware stores were sure just what the equivalent oil would be in other brands, so, sure enough, Amazon had it listed!

I was having difficulty finding a local source for this oil which we use in a small vacuum pump in our laboratory. Buying it on Amazon was quick and essentially risk free. Although pricey for a quart of oil, it is a specialty item, and it does carry the Gast name and we hope also the quality that Gast is known for.
