One of my Geekpure filter housings cracked around the bottom and started to leak. Luckily the double unit is in the garage and is easy to reach. So I needed a single housing to replace the cracked one. I found a deal online for two that was much cheaper per item than just ordering one. I figure if one cracked it could happen to the other one too. So I replaced the cracked one and now have a replacement one in case. I couldn’t find any housing units by themselves to buy. Probably should have contacted Geekpure directly. My bad.

I have zero complaints after owning several of these housings, both the 10 inch tall and the 20's. I see this more and more on Amazon, where the same manufacturer in China builds a bunch of widgets, then sells them wholesale to brands X,Y, and Z. Then prices vary based on the sticker. You don't even have to look closely to see when this happens because they even use the same pictures. I have no idea who came up with the name Geekpure, but despite the weird name, these are good filter housings and the price is always right.

This product is garbage. I never write reviews, and this product is so bad that I had to.I purchase 2 of these at the end of 2019. One failed immediately, the other failed recently. The issue with both is the 1” female connectors. One cracked right away and the second one just failed. Fortunately I caught them in time, otherwise it could have been a huge mess. Do not buy.

I loved the quality of the housings. The 1" brass inserts took a lot of torque and held up. The threading on the filter canisters was clean with NO sharp edges to damage the "O-ring" inside. Along with other parts I also purchased through Amazon the system came out perfect. I live in the city so the water is always around 50 psi. As for the ratings I gave 1. there is no flavor at all coming from the taps. 2. Easy to install: I have made quite a few of these systems, this one was pretty small. I made them for town water systems also school water systems etc. 3. Value for money: Had I purchased all the stuff necessary thru my local hardware store then I never would have put this together. Amazons prices on all the stuff necessary to put this together made it all possible. If you notice in the pictures I installed Unions before and after each filter. That was for three reasons.1. If your pipes were a bit out, or one end was a bit longer than the other you still could assemble them, secondly If there was ever a problem with one of the filter housings I would be able to remove just the one and replace it with a straight pipe until I could get a replacement, Which meant the whole unit would be out of service for about 10 minutes instead of weeks while waiting for replacement parts, lastly I could add on to the system easily if I chose to. I have read reviews from people claiming that these units leaked from the "O-Rings". Simple fix. You DON'T need to buy any special lubricants for the rings. Ordinary household cooking oil is all you need (Canola,Sunflower oil ) any type of oil you would put on a salad is fine. NOT automotive oil ! Other people have complained about pipe thread connections leaking, here is another fix. Start off with pipe thread compound (In Canada the product is made by "Oatey", any thread compound is good as long as it can be used with POTABLE or DRINKING WATER), then two wraps of thread tape, and once again with pipe thread compound. After all that then join your parts together. How tight should they be? I assemble my parts in a pipe vise. (you can probably buy one cheap thru Amazon). I used mostly 1" pipe so I would put one end in the vice and turn it by hand until it stopped (by hand at first makes sure you don't cross thread the fittings), then using a 24" pipe wrench I would turn it in until I could feel the muscles in my stomach starting to pull. Finally I would do a push up on the end of the pipe wrench to make sure that the parts were together. (I only weigh 180 lb.). That's about how tight the connections have to be to avoid leakage. As I mentioned before the housings for the filters were plastic and had brass thread bushings in them. I used the same technique to tighten the pipes into them and had no problems. Last of all, people have complained about still smelling odors after the filters were installed. A big culprit would be your hot water tank, its probably older and has so much sediment in the bottom that the only way you will get good results would be to change your hot water tank. I inserted "Geekpure" sediment filter in one and their carbon filter in the other and am very happy with the results. I have experienced NO pressure drop at all. I will be ordering another housing in the near future to add a third "1 micron" filter to the system. Thanks
