This is a great all purpose camping tarp - Heavy duty & durable. Originally I got it for our RV camping kit but I actually used it just last weekend for my daughter's softball tournament. The fields we were at did not have shaded dugouts & it was a typical sunny +90's inland SoCal day. Luckily I happened to have it in my car on it's way to store in the RV. It was super easy to tie one end to the top of the fencing and drape over their dugout area and drape down the back and tie it there. The UV protection and shade was a total game changer for our players and I was able to easily take it down & put back up over every dugout they used. We were definitely the envy of the tournament.It is a lightweight but durable polyester fabric is pretty thick, UV protective and waterproof. I got it to keep with our RV for campsite shade or rain protection as needed. I lOVED that it came with four 10' tent poles & all the guy lines & stakes needed to make a big 10'x12-14' canopy area. The tarp is lightweight & easy to manipulate (fold back up). It has a lot of grommets along the sides which makes it easy to tie down and keep in place. The included guy lines are nice quality - smooth w/ reflective weaving for visibility at night. The stakes are surprisingly nice quality & I will actually use them. The grommets are very sturdy and durable - have already weathered one pretty windy storm and all are intact and held firmly. The poles fold out like tent poles and are sturdy but easy to manipulate lightweight steel. It folds up pretty compactly and I am able to fit it into the bag easily. THe bag is the same fabric as the tarp but double layered so very durable & is great for keeping everything stowed where we need it. It is going to be staying in my car thru the rest of softball tournament season. It is so much easier to deal with vs. lugging around a EZ-up style canopy and takes me & my hubby less than 5min to set up & secure. My new fav bit of softball mom gear :) It has worked really well for us.

This is a clever design and would certainly be handy in car-camping or some backyard situation, but it is SOOO heavy, there is absolutely no way we will be bringing this on backpacking or canoe-camping trips, which is what we originally got it for.I wish it hadn't been advertised as a "backpacking" item because nobody could realistically expect to justify the weight on a backpacking trip, but I'm sure it has other uses.
