The column is well made except for the lower bearing retaining ring. This ring is a larger diameter than the column, so the floor grommet won’t fit over it. Also, this ring is firmly attached so I couldn’t remove it without damaging the column. Fortunately I have a metal lathe that accommodated the entire column and allowed me to turn the ring to the right diameter. This took several hours to figure out, and a few minutes to accomplish.

The Angry Mechanic sez,This is the "No Key" "No Automatic Shift".Surprisigly good quality with a show quality chrome job.Near identical to (if not the exact same manufacturer) as a speedway column. The Lower Collar (the one under the tiltiing part) does rotate about 1/4 turn independently of the rest of the column, as if it is an automatic shifter type without the provisions and mechanisms to actually be one.Couldn't be happier, Recommended.

So it worked well for a week. Now it doesn't cancel turn signal when I turn right. Also when I do the tilt , one position angle skips. It was easy to install. looks nice, but its poorly made.First time I've dealt with something like this.I'd pass on this item if your trying to install it on something your keeping.

Installed in my 1936 Terraplane Street Rod. The column looks great, exactly what I wanted, But... I connected all wiring as per steering column instructions and wiring harness instructions. Everything worked Except turn signals. An hour-long diagnosis revealed there is no power through the purple turn signal power wire. I had to either, q1) remove the whole column or, 2) put a jumper wire between the powered emergency flasher wire and the non-functional turn signal wire. I didn't want to go through the hassle of removing the column again so I inserted a jumper wire to power the turn signal flasher. When you install this column, Be sure all of the wires coming from the columm are powered as needed and check the purple wire for its power.

The column is nice but on the upper end where the original steering wheel has a raised rib to go inside the upper collar the collar is rolled in and a factory steering wheel will not work without modification to the column of wheel.
