I purchased this for doing finer suturing work. It is very average and I felt misled on two points. First, the gold color on the grips usually signifies that the needle gripping surface has very strong tungsten carbide inserts. Before making the purchase, I asked the seller about the inserts but received no reply. So buyer, be aware. Also, the gripping surfaces are totally flat (no grooves or gnurling) so the needle can move around.As with any instrument, be aware that "German steel" does not mean it instrument was manufactured in Germany. This one bears no country of manufacture. If it's made in Germany, the manufacturer needs to clarify that.A basic tool for a basic price. This will not become the go-to needle driver for me, but I will keep it.
