I found this add-on drum throne backrest to be a good purchase. It's super easy to mount to an existing stool, and gives me the back support I like when playing keyboards or doing percussion things. It also doesn't hurt that it's a much cheaper alternative than buying a unit that has a back already. I definitely rate it two sticks up. 🎶 🥁

This backrest is well designed to fit a typical drum throne. It is well made and is sturdy. It's very easy to install - just clamp to the drum throne's post/screw.

I’ve been searching for a universal backrest for my DW 5000 series drummer throne. I use this throne as a piano stool. This Gibraltar backrest was purchased as a gamble since the dimensions of the clamping mechanism weren’t published in the product description. It worked perfectly! The backrest is adjustable forward / backward and up / down. The clamp may be easily attached to the worm gear seat post of just about any throne. It is a heavy duty high quality addition to my throne…..and provided the back support I so desperately needed.

Can't set it close enough (unless you're really big) it's too far in the back and won't go high enough either.

Clamps easily onto any throne with a center shaft. Good quality. Fits my hydraulic as well. Provides great lower back support and helps with posture and fatigue during long gigs. Cheap compared to any good throne with backrest. 100 instead of 300. I already have three thrones. Highly recommend this item.

I bought this to attach to a Gibraltar throne. I use this for benchrest shooting so throne height is very important for comfort. Problem is not all benches are the same height at the different ranges I shoot at. when attaching this back rest it clamps around the height adjustment screw and removes about 3 inches of lowering ability. That 3 inches is important when sitting at the bench for 3 hours our more. I find at times I have to remove it to get comfortable. It is very sturdy and strong, just not quite right for me sometimes.I changed my review to 5 stars. I managed to modify the backrest to fit the bracket that holds the seat to the adjusting shaft. Now I can lower it all the way down to within 1/2 inch of bottoming out. I removed the bracket piece that clamps to the seat bottom and tightens it to the permanent bracket. Had to drill out the holes a bit in that permanent bracket so bolts on the bracket on the backrest now fits into those two holes. tighten it up and now perfect. Took all of about 15 minutes.

In the last few years I've had increasing back pain that was especially marked when I was playing a gig. It was probably due to poor posture, but in any case this backrest has made a tremendous difference! I used to just take in my drum case to sit on for rehearsals but now I go to the trouble to dig out the throne and new backrest for rehearsals and gigs. I've got my back, back! This is a very strong, well made, and reasonably priced addition that fits the drummer's throne easily. I'm sorry I waited so long to get it!

This item does what the description says it will do but I think that it was a bit expensive for what it is. It does mount easily to my SP saddle throne but it does not want to really stay tightly connected. This is ok for me because, since the backrest attaches to the post and not the seat itself, I like for it to able to swivel freely. I would guess that there are nicer ones out there but, like I said, it does what it needs to. Hasn't bent on my but it has a little bit of play. I find it supportive (6'3'' 200lbs) and decently adjustable. Unsure if I would spend this kind of money on this item again but I am satisfied with it until I want to drop several hundred dollars on a throne with a built in backrest. I will say that it is unlikely I will ever go without a backrest again, it has been a muscle-saver on long gigs or rehearsals, if only just to lean on in between songs.

The product itself seems really sturdy and is very easy to install. It is also very comfortable to the back and can be adjusted to your preference. There is a nice play when you lean on it, it is not very rigid but that is actually a very good thing. It gives sort of a good bounce when playing.I never had a back rest before so I cannot compare the quality or comfort to other back rests out there. But what I do know is that I'll probably never drum again without a back rest (if given a choice). This is NOT just a throne upgrade, it will actually upgrade your POSTURE and BALANCE. Two very important things to a drummer.I just went through a 3 hour non-stop grueling jam with my band last night. Its just one song after the other (AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Coldplay, OPM... etc) and I have never felt as good as this before. My endurance is much better, I mean I could go on for 3 more hours. My back felt great. I also noticed I had more power in my legs. Both my heel up and heel down technique felt really good. The back rest pushing the lower back seems to provide me with really good leverage and not worry about balance making me more relaxed, which for some reason translates to better speed and power. If you are a drummer and do not have a back rest, I suggest you get one. It does not matter if it is this one or the other more expensive stuff out there, just get one. You won't regret it. This is hands down the best upgrade I have given myself as a drummer (my mapex raptor pedal is a far second)...
