Notice first that the snap on the left in the first pic (original from my boat cover) has a stainless steel inner snap ring, and the one on the right (from this Glarks kit from Amazon) has a brass inner snap ring. It's clever of the seller to state the brass is for "durability" purposes hoping that most folks don't understand basic metallurgy. First, brass is NEVER going to be more durable than stainless steel, whether the reference is to tensile strength or corrosion resistance so this description is a bit misleading if not downright deceptive in nature. The cover side is "nickel plated brass" which offers marginal at best, and de minimis at worst protection, and the underside of the snap cover is fully brass (see third pic). The nickel plating is more likely just to give it a stainless steel look without the stainless steel cost. Next look at the second pic. Notice that the original snap from my cover on the left side is beefier and heavier than the snap from the kit on the right. There is a NOTICEABLE difference in thickness and weight when held in your hands. Ultimately, these snaps will probably not hold up in coastal environments. There's simply too much salt spray in the air which will cause the brass to corrode. Particularly since the screws are stainless steel, so you have three dissimilar metals in contact with each other (nickel, brass, and stainless steel). Dissimilar metals expedite the corrosion process. Ultimately, these snaps are prob great for light-duty, non-coastal use (hence the reason for so many positive reviews). For a serious boat cover or other heavy-duty use, and/or on the coastline. AVOID!!!!

Needed some replacement grommets and snaps for the cushions to a boat. Hard to search for the right kind as nothing comes up in a search for boat snaps. There are snaps at a marine store but usually priced well over $30 for a few snaps. These are stainless steel and seems to be of good quality. Easy to install if you have a hard surface to brace the snaps on instead of just pressing them on their own. This is the first time I’m using them this season so I’ll be able to followup later on how they held up. I had to replace all the snaps, grommets, and the screws on the boat so we’ll see how they held. So far, great quality and price.
