The clapper is perfectly fine but the board is not properly coated and it is not fully erasable and the smudged marker will build up every time you write on it until it becomes unreadable when you write something new on it.

Bought this for my 7 year old great grandson, loves trying to make movies on his iPad. This was just what he wanted and has enjoyed using it when ‘making’ a film of his older sister. Good buy

WARNING, the supplied markers will quickly stain the board....and would not erase even after leaving it on for 3 minutes! The price is very cheap and reasonable....can't you put a coating on the acrylic so things don't stick so badly, and/or give us a more easily removed marker? The board functions perfectly for my limited amateur filming, looks good, give a satisfying "clap" to "sequence" three cameras together by the sound "spike." The problem is, (and they know it) the supplied markers will stain the board extremely quickly. As you write again on it, the stain etches deeper into the board. Soap would not work, rubbing alcohol would not work. IF you use them with enough elbow grease you can "mostly" erase it about 80% but still read the faint writing and every time you write on top, it gets darker and smudgier. Two things did work to clean it without damage for me...petroleum distillates like bug and tar cleaner, and things like WD-40. I'm thinking other oils might also work but no promises. ONE OTHER THING WORKS but is not recommended. Goof Off works but ETCHES into the acrylic board and will mess up your board bigtime because it starts to melt it. Do NOT use Goof off. Still experimenting, but this is my experience so far. Very difficult to remove the included markers and I suspect, this will be the same with most any erasable markers. Again, they should experiment with different markers and/or coatings for the board so it's easier to clean.

This worked great for our shoot, but I left the marker on overnight and when I cleaned it off it was hard to remove with any white board eraser, I had to use lighter fluid. I even tried marker board cleaner, and that barely worked. What worked best is to use the marker itself and write over or blacken in what you wrote and it dissolved the under writing and you could erase it because it was still wet. The border trim markings on the board itself are not printed very permanent either. If you use a solvent like lighter fluid, which I use all the time in my guitar repair biz (it's like naptha) it'll begin to fade their black border lines. But for the money it worked fine for our live movie shoot.

Don't purchase this product unless you don't mind throwing money away and you just need a slate for the day. This clapper slate fell apart during the shoot. Screws started unraveling after a few scenes and by the end of the day it was in pieces. Also, the dry erase marker would not rub off even with cleaner. Sorry no pics. I was so disappointed tossed in the garbage as soon as we wrapped.

Not only do I love it, the customer service was amazing. When I originally received it, I opened the box and my board was broken. I contacted customer service (and sent pics), they had another one in the mail shortly after. I thought the replacement process was going to be a headache, but it wasn’t at all! Thank you! I’m excited to make my first short film!
