This is a small compact glass tube. It is great because it doesn’t require much fuel to get the test results. I use a small plastic cup that has a top. That way after I use it I can close it tight until I get home to was it out. I use a big 10ml syringe that you would use to give children’s ibuprofen to your kid. It works great. I use 6ml of water to hit the water line and 10 ml of ethanol to finish filling to the Fuel line. Then close the top right and shake it good and sit it on a flat surface for about 4 to 5 minutes and they it will separate to see the ethanol content. Then I empty everything and put a little water in each thing and mix it around to rinse them out. I throw everything into a big zip lock bag and go home to clean everything. The Zip lock bag help with the fuel smell in the car until you get home.I am very happy with this product. It works as it should.

Fuel stations have a sticker on the pump saying "Contains up to 10% ethanol" in my area.Because ethanol forms acids and absorbs water, it's kinda harmful to all the aluminum parts of our fuel systems. Our modern vehicles have mostly aluminum & plastic as fuel system constituents these days...so we use fuel stabilizers to reduce these effects in our expensive performance engines, especially on marine engines. We have ethanol free fuel available in my area and use it when we can but always wondered how much of the cheaper ethanol was being mixed with our petrol.Wonder no more! Simply fill water in this easy to read, graduated/marked glass tube to the "zero" line. Next add your fuel to the cylinder until you reach the top line and put on the lid. Shake, shake, shake it up. Now hold the cylinder flat/level and after a few seconds the water will mix with the volume of ethanol in the petrol. Petrol floats on water, so you can now see a line between the petrol & the water. The percent absorbed will be the number above zero...this is your percentage of ethanol in the fuel!I used blue food coloring in a bottle of drinking water to really make the effect easier to see. If you color your water or not, this is a totally accurate & easy method to determine the percentage of ethanol in your fuel.A very worthwhile device to have if you care about what you're buying at the pump.Note: None of the fuel I've tested has been above ~8% ethanol.

Use it to test pump E85 and ignite race fuel. Has been super accurate so far. My local e85 has always tested as high as 95% ethanol. This tester just confirms that. Love that it’s a glass tube with laser etching and not plastic with a vinyl label! Would buy again!

Tube is glass and laser etched! Minus 2 stars because the seal leaks everytime you shake!I fixed it with o-ring sized 9-2mm. No more leaks!

A great tool if you're a hot rodder or auto hobbyist who watches the ethanol content in your local E85 fuel. I find the measurement to be very close to what the vehicle's fuel sensor measures.

The price was a little high but it is laser etched. The lettering will not come off. Very easy to use. When addingwater and gas the more accurate you fill to the lines the more accurate your results will be of the alcohol content.gas in my area was between 5% to 10%.

The lid does not seal well, but knowing that you account for it. It is one of the few that give you the full range...I need E50 for example

I know Burger and Fuel-It are great companies so I ordered this fuel tester. I measured the water and the fuel and shook it up. It leaked a lot. I dumped it and tried again, this time tightening the lid more. Still leaked. Tried once more and tightened it as tight as I could and it still leaked a little. The measurements markings are not going to be accurate if you lose gas or water. There is a problem with the gasket fit or material. I have asked for a refund, but I really just want a lid that doesn't leak, since otherwise it is a good product. Waiting for a reply from Burger Motorsports.Update: I went to Lowes and purchased a pack of flat washers (synthetic, I think) 17/32" O.D. Fits perfectly, no more leaks. Last month the local E85 was 68% Ethanol. This month it was 70%. It is worth checking your so-called E85.
