I've been a photographer since the late 1980s. I've used just about every kind of studio flash there is. I recently over the past couple years retired all of my Bowens lighting (Other than my 1000wt strobe), and have gone strictly Godox. This little powerhouse works great as a background or hair light. I've used it on a couple shoots already and it has functioned perfectly. Really surprised with how well this works.

These lights are compact and super easy to set up and use. I recently used them for a 4-day shoot where I did portraits of 40 people and the recycle time was fantastic. I was using speed lights before this and they've been a great step up. Buy some! :)

I purchased one of these after watching numerous videos on the AD 100. The most desirable thing was the small compact size. While i already have a couple of AD200s, the small, soda can shape of the ad100 really interested me. After using this thing for a couple of shoots, as a key light, secondary light and as a rim light, i can say that this thing is pretty amazing. No, it is not going to light up at a distance light a AD600 or even the mighty ad200, but when you can get it within 10 feet or so, it does a great job. It is much more powerful than my speedlite and even easier to pack. I even used it about 40 ft away with a grid modifier to put a bit of light on a face and it worked great.It is very portable. It easily slides into my camera bag in less space than one of the 85mm lens i have. Also, it is light weight, so i can use a base and an expandable selfie stick as a light stand (thanks Marcus!). Which really helps cut down on the weight and amount of gear needed. Also, since it is so small and portable, I find that i am more apt to pull it out and use it where with larger strobes i have just used available ambient light (which then may require a lot of post).Another interesting thing, is that hand holding this light is great. I have hand held my AD200 several times and got great results, this being even lighter and small it is even easier to do.PROs:1. Lightweight and portable2. Easy to mount and using a light weight light stand to hold or hand hold is super easy3. Good amount of light (at short distance) for such a small package.4. Magnetic head. I wish every strobe had a magnetic head. So easy to attach small modifiers. They even make a 24 inch softbox that has a magnetic receiver to just pop this thing on it..CONs:1. None really, but again it is a 100 ws light so you can't put it in huge modifiers or expect it to light up things a great distance.Summary: love this light and will be picking up another

This soda can sized unit is perfect for outdoor fills and even in lighting up dark spaces. The flash I had before did not have TTL, so this one is a real treat to use for that function, when applicable.

The Godoy AD100 arrived and functioned as advertised. Realiable unit and does what Godoy says it will do! Found that my AD200 accessories fit the AD100 perfectly expanding my capability. Satisfied that my choice of Godoy was justified! Now have 2 AD200 pros, AD100 and 1, AD400 all very good and meet my requirements will buy an AD600 in the future!

It's unfortunate that I received this strobe new in box with a mild burn mark. Works fine otherwise, but something to consider if you plan on purchasing.Edit: I just want to share that the seller did replace the lens free of charge and without issue after I sent them this photo. The replacement is without issue and overall this was only a minor setback.

More of a want than need.... as I have too many Godox flashes already, LOL... but the portability and the ability to attach to the new Angler Softboxes from B & H is too awesome. Super quick run and gun set up for wedding day. Can be used as a main in right situations and an excellent hair light to go along with my AD300.
