I'm a professional photographer with 30 years of experience. This replaced the original lens hood (HB-40) on my Nikon 24-70mm f2.8.THE GOOD:- I got it onto the lens, and it does its job.- The hood was not visible throughout the 24-70mm range.- The finish is the same black "orange peal overspray" as the Nikon bodies.THE BAD:- The threads on the original HB-40 are metal and easily screwed on and off the lens while still fitting snuggly. These threads are plastic and are REALLY tight. After carefully screwing it onto the lens once, I removed it and looked at the threads, wondering if something was wrong with them that it was so difficult to screw on. What I saw concerned me. After installing it only once, there were already visible wear marks on the inside of the rings. Common sense says, "It'll loosen up with time." But that's the point. It shouldn't have to wear out to fit correctly.CONCLUSION:If you lost the original lens hood and need one like me, this is a cheap and adequate solution.I don't expect it to last more than a year, but it'll do for less than 15 bucks.

It works, but it's so tight that I'm worried I might be damaging the plastic rim on my lens with this. It's for a f2.8 24-70 F mount. Not sure If I'm going to keep using this

This hood has a slightly rougher texture than the original Nikon but works just as well. If anything, this texture makes stray light scatter better. It also fits just as well as the Nikon original hood. It’s a good replacement I can recommend without reservations.

This lens hood is a very solid build quality. Doesn't seem like cheap plastic at all. The click of the lock is very solid and doesn't move or is flimsy in anyway. The only small problem I had was a few small burs that where on the inside that would have rubbed against the lens. A quick clean with the sharp knife, and that fixed it right up. You can see in the attached first picture. Overall very happy with this.

Perfect! My original hood broke. This was an awesome replacement. Fits great and does it’s job. Don’t know what else I need in a lens hood!

Time will tell. It fits like the Nikon brand. However the difference is Nikon uses a metal locking latch. Will the latch fail prior to something more catastrophic, the original lasted 15 or so years, not sure this latch will last that long.
