I am VERY upset with this order. It arrive WITHOUT the hood or tam, and it arrived later than expected. I specifically ordered this for a graduation ceremony I am participating in, and I do not have time to purchase another one as the ceremony is tomorrow. I can't believe I spent money on this and didn't receive two of the three items I ordered.

Hood keeps sliding sideways. Nothing to attach it too. Was a real pain when taking photos. Hat very comfortable.

I bought this because I needed a gown for a commencement on fairly short notice (I already owned tam and hood). Buying this gown from Amazon was cheaper than renting, and the quality was at least as good as a rental. It also got there a lot faster than the rental, with Amazon's usual delivery speed. It seems to be well made, of reasonably light material, with velvet panels and chevrons. Colors and length were good. Probably not the weight and quality of a deluxe doctoral gown, but it served the purpose. Commencement was outside, on a cloudy cool day, and the gown was very comfortable--I was quite warm, and can see why medieval scholars wore gowns in their drafty stone buildings.Issues: no pockets (put cell phone in pants pocket; didn't need to carry anything else); if you want pockets, look for the deluxe gown, I guess. Also no button inside the front, which would be used to attach the loop from the hood, in order to keep the hood from riding up and strangling the wearer. I could have sewn in a button, but I used a safety pin and survived the experience. Arrived packed in a rather small plastic package, with many wrinkles and fold lines. Hanging it up did not help, you are not supposed to dry clean it, and ironing would have been a truly major undertaking, but a couple of sessions with a clothes steamer smoothed the folds and wrinkles quite well. Be aware that this gown is quite large. LOTS of fabric. I know academic gowns are loose, but this is voluminous, possibly more than average, so be aware of that (I got the regular size). It will billow!The issues were minor for me, everything worked, and I have been very happy with the purchase.
