Installed this on our 2014 4Runner and it's made a huge difference when towing our 3,000lb camper. Temps would hit 225f when towing before, and hang around 190f now. Very happy with the results, great value for the money!

Amazon listed it as a direct replacement for a 2002 Chevy Tahoe but after receipt and comparison, it's obvious that it has to be custom adapted and mounted as either a supplemental cooler or a replacement for the stock external cooler. I've ordered a actual direct replacement cooler for now and will hang on to this one and pipe it in if summer trans temps don't stay low enough when towing. Can't offer a opinion on effectiveness as I have not installed it and placed in operation. The 4 star rating is solely based on the incorrect description.

I installed this as a additional cooler to the OEM radiator cooler. Ironically.. The cooler holes lined up perfectly with the threaded factory holes for where the two horns are secured.I added one threaded nut insert on the bottom with a piece of EPDM rubber to secure the bottom. It's very solid. I relocated the horns on the sides and extended the wires for the horns with crimp heat shrink butt connector.Cooler itself is very good quality. Has the internal bypass for colder temps. This size is probably overkill for a 4cyl honda but the price difference for the smaller one was only a few dollars.Has 3/8" barb fitting inlet and outlet. I used single ear crimp type clamps instead of screw clamps. I ran this cooler in parallel with oem radiator cooler. So that this cooler is on the return side of the radiator cooler lines.So.. Transmission outlet --> radiator cooler --> Hayden 698 --> transmission inlet.

Don’t buy a knock off when this American cooler is so well engineered. Solidly built. When dealing with a trans cooler always go bigger than what u need. This cooler has a built in thermostat that lets your trans warm up then keeps it cool. Plug n play. Very happy.

It was a good little cooler for about two months. Then, near the one of the hose connections, it split… like bad! Bad QC and manufacturing. Could have lead to a far more serious problem if I wouldn’t have caught it when I did. Shame.

I installed this on a 2007 new body style Tahoe, with a 4l60e. This truck never had the tow package so it never had a factory cooler. It lived at 190 degrees on warm days, and sometimes would reach 205-210 degrees on a 90 degree day (no trailer). I bought this cooler strictly for the thermostat, knowing that too cold of fluid is just as bad as too hot of fluid. I’ve put 10k miles on the setup so far and I’m nothing but impressed. Cruise temp never exceeds 175 degrees. The hottest temp I’ve saw so far is 185 degrees, and that was pulling a 14ft lawn trailer with a zero turn lower on the back.

This is easy to install and will SAVE YOUR TRANSMISSIONwith today's modern vehicles it's important that temperature stays where they need to be.Not too cold so the template control built into the cooler is a must!
