My fireplace went out - local HVAC company cleaned it and it went out again after a week. This was a perfect for. Disassembly of fireplace was a pain, but replacing the part was easy when I got to it. Fired right up and works perfectly.

I HAVE A 20 YEAR OLD HEATILATOR MODEL GNBC 36 NATURAL GAS VENTED FIREPLACE WITH A SOLID GLASS FRONT SCREEN. THE PILOT WOULD NOT LIGHT. I REMOVED THE GLASS SCREEN AND IT WAS TAKING A DOZEN OR MORE PUSH BUTTON TRIES ON THE SPARK IGNITER BEFORE THE PILOT WOULD LIGHT. THE PILOT WOULD THEN STAY LIT AND THE MAIN BURNER WOULD IGNITE AND BURN POPERLY UNTIL I RE-PLACED THE GLASS SCREEN ON THE FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE. THEN THE BURNER FIRE WOULD BURN ABOUT 2 MINUTE AND EVERYTHING WOULD GO OUT. I PROPERLY CLEANED THE OLD PILOT ASSEMBLY AND THE THERMOPILE AND THERMOCOUPLE SENSORS. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO TEST FINE WITH MY MULTIMETER, I CHECKED THE FIREPLACE VENTING, ETC AND NOTHING HAD CHANGED IN 20 YEARS. THE ENTIRE FIREPLACE AND ALL THE COMPONENTS HAD BEEN CLEANED PROPERLY.I REPLACED THE OLD GAS PILOT ASSEMBLY WITH THIS NEW PART AND EVERTHING IS AGAIN WORKING PROPERLY WITH THE GLASS SCREEN IN PLACE. THE PILOT IGNITES NOW WITH ONE PUSH OF THE BUTTON!I DO CAUTION THAT ON THIS MODEL FIREPLACE IT IS A COMPLICATED AND TIME-CONSUMING (3 HOUR) JOB TO REPLACE THE PILOT ASSEMBLY. THE GLASS COMES OFF, THE PILOT ASSEMBLY CONNECTIONS ARE DIFFICULT TO DISCONNECT AND CONNECT TO THE PILOT GAS VALVE IN THE LIMITED SPACE UNDER THE FIREBOX FLOOR. ONCE DISCONNECTED THEN THE LOGS COME OUT, THE PILOT ASSEMBLY MOUNTING POST IS UNSCREWED AND COMES OUT, THE FIRST FLOOR COVER IS UNSCREWD AND COMES OUT, THE S SHAPED BURNER NEEDS TO BE DISCONNECTD AND COMES OUT, THE SECOND FLOOR COVER IS UNSCREWED AND COMES OUT. NOW YOU HAVE VERY LIMITED ACCESS TO PULL THE PILOT ASSEMBLY UP AND OUT WHILE SNAKING THE 2 GAS LINES AND 2 WIRES UP THROUGH A SMALL HOLE IN THE REMAINING THIRD FLOOR COVER. NOW YOU MUST SNAKE THE NEW PART'S GAS LINES AND WIRES DOWN THROUGH THE LIMITED ACCESS HOLE, RESEAL THE HOLE, THEN CONNECT BACK EVERYTHING TO THE GAS VALVE AND THEN RE-ASSEMBLE EVERYTHING. NOT A SIMPLE REPLACEMENT.

This was a bolt-in replacement for my Heatilator GNDC36 from 1999. Other reviews say this install is difficult, but it really isn't that bad. You do need to disassemble the fireplace and nearly remove the gas valve. Take pictures before you remove the wiring and just put everything back where you found it. You'll need some fire proof caulk to seal around the wiring so be sure to order some.

My Heatilator Gas pilot can light, but the fire wont stay when release the pilot button. Call a local service who diagnosed the pilot assembly and the gas valve all need to be replaced and charged me $1600 + tax. I bought this for $80+ and replaced by myself. After watch some Youtube videos , replaced the pilot assembly was quite easy, but to remove those fireplace assembly to get room for the replacement did take some time. Totally it cost me about 2 hours to do the replacement plus a fully clean. Can't be happy than this.

The pilot assembly was just what I needed to get the fireplace working properly again. The flame would not stay lit, now it works like new. Since I had essentially everything apart I was able to do a thorough cleaning and I painted the log rack. I also needed high temp silicon caulk and high temp spray paint. The original assembly had high temp grommets which I could not locate. The high temp caulk is also a gasket material so I was able to substitute the caulk for the grommets.

This Heatilator pilot assembly was an exact duplicate to my OEM assembly on my gas furnace. It installed quickly and worked perfectly. Problem: my gas fireplace was not lighting because there was a restriction in the pilot feed tube, reducing the pilot flame size, preventing it from reaching the burner to ignite the burner tubes. This created a dangerous condition in which gas would build up in the fireplace and ignite with a loud whoosh! This pilot assembly arrived quickly and remedied this problem perfectly.

It worked well. Only reason I didn’t give five stars is because the thermocouple came loose in package and a pressure washer was very difficult to re set.Shipping was fast and pr Duct works great.
