The rods are slightly too big for the docking hardware to lock on to. Hanging anything inverted is impossible no matter how much you adjust it. The parts they show in the pictures must be all aftermarket, because none of my HD OEM brackets fit these rods.

Alright, so youre buying this as an affordable alternative to the Harley rack, right? Well if thats the case (even if youre not) as this rack system is shipped it will need some "modifications" to be operable before use.For starters, it most definitely is not 16" on center mounting holes as the page states. I cant remember the exact measurement but its a few inches wider, as you can see in my first photo with the tour pack (reference the side plate holes drilled into the 2x4's, and then the holes in the 2x4's lagged to the studs). To be honest, this would and could be easily remedied by cutting, re-drilling and tapping the accessory support bars to a length that would facilitate the mounting holes being 16" on center. The funny thing about that is, not only could you refabricate the support bars, you have to in order to mount accessories on it as advertised. The bar diameter is too large for Harley QD accessories to lock onto the bars (needs to be ~1/2"), so while the photo shows the tour pack sitting on the bars I cannot secure it to the bars via QD cams, nor can I mount devices to the underside bars because they wont stay on if I cant lock them on. What a mess.TL;DR, youre essentially buying this kit for the side plates, and the cross bars to mount accessories on will have to be fabricated out of 1/2" O.D. round stock to achieve a 16" on center mounting style while also being able to actually attach accessories.

had to do some alterations to hang on 16 inch studs, rods to hang items to wide to fit a Harley tour pack and backrest. Had to grind them down to fit. when all said and done looks good.

The product itself is sturdy enough and well made but he mounting brackets are 17-1/2” hole to hole. Can only put one side into a stud and the drywall anchors are really crappy on the other side. It is the one on the left, HD one on the right. HD was $100 more but16” centres
