How do I determine if the water is hard water?
- Observe for water spots on dishes and glassware after washing

Why doesnt the water softener decrease the TDS ?
A water softener primarily functions to reduce water hardness by replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions using cation resin. This process helps prevent scale buildup and extends the lifespan of appliances. However, it's important to note that the TDS represents the overall concentration of dissolved minerals and salts in the water, does not significantly decrease. While the water softener effectively addresses water hardness, it does not decrease the TDS level.

How could i determine if water softener works?
You can test the water hardness using the Titration Method. This method involves adding a chemical reagent to the water sample and measuring the amount required to reach a specific endpoint. The reagent reacts with the minerals causing water hardness, and the volume of reagent used indicates the hardness level.

We used the combination of water softener and water filter from this company on a two-week camping trip with about a dozen friends. The water at the site is health-department certified potable, but it's laden with iron, sulfur, and calcium, tastes terrible, stains clothing, and (so I'm told -- not an issue for a bald guy like me) is nasty for washing long hair.The water coming out of the combo of filter and softener is clear, great for washing dishes and for the camp shower, and tastes just fine for drinking. Camping for two weeks in extremely hot conditions, twelve people used quite a bit of water, but we experienced no degradation in the output quality.The softener can be regenerated at home or even onsite, using ordinary sodium chloride (table salt) purchased at a grocery store. That's a great feature for DIY maintenance between outings, and if we ever had a larger turnout it's nice to know a quick town-run for salt would keep us drinking good water. The filter is theoretically DIY maintainable but its estimated media life is such that I'll probably be too old to go camping before that's needed.One nice feature that I'd like to call out is the inclusion of caps for the inlet and outlet. No matter how well you drain the unit before coming home, there's going to be a little water inside, and the caps keep it from dripping in the vehicle. After thoroughly drying it out at home, I'll also reinstall the caps to keep insects from nesting in the fittings while it's in storage.The device and its accessories and fittings are all well-made, the instructions are clear and detailed, and it works great. Five stars.

I actually rigged this up in my condo.With two people showering this unit last about 2 weeks before I need to recharge it. Seems to work well to add about 4-5 cups of salt each time, then let it sit overnight.It doesn’t soften like the big units, but i check it with a hardness test each time and it definitely softens the water.

We live in a Summer Resort and have our ParkModel RV now hooked up to this water softner. My neighbour bought one last year and after talking to him we decided to get ours this spring. It is all hooked up real easy, and seems to be working as it should. Only thing we needed to purchase was a bit longer hose to hook up to our water source. Not a big deal. Very pleased with it.

This unit is too small to be a 16000 grain unit, they claim that it’s specially engineered and uses special resin so it can hold less resin (half what a true 16000 grain does) and provides the same benefits. It’s also too small to be a 16000 gain unit it doesn’t have the resin capacity nor the water capacity. Might work for cleaning your vehicles but definitely not a 16000 grain water softener would not recommend for a RV. They refused a refund.. do your research please, I wish I did.

I would give 5 stars if the little hose didn’t leak right away. Had to buy another flexzilla 4ft hose.We regret not buying this years ago!! We full time RV and this has been one of our most satisfying upgrades. Some of these campground water is sooo hard. After installing the water filter system wasn’t really any change. Almost worse. After the mini inline water softener or water feel slippery like a high end 5star hotel 👏🏼 I would recommend to anyone that RVs more than 2 weeks out of the year.

Seldom do you find a product that can deliver as promised. Small package unit, large performance and more then me my needs. Great soft water performance should be good for 2500 gallons for sure....then just add high quality salt again. Only fallback is the mickey mouse carrying handle which could be better designed. Great communication on my questions.

This system worked fine for a couple of uses. I thought I should test the softness after a couple of months. The hardness was same as tap water. Figured it needed more salt. I followed instructions in the video and could barely get half of the 1lb salt container into the tank (might have been less than half). Very frustrating since this was a pricey item. Instructions not very good.

My wife and I travel the country in our RV and recently purchased this water softener. A water softener is a must have if you plan on spending long periods of time anywhere there is hard water. Hard water is found everywhere in the South West USA. Hard water will make your skin dry and itchy. It can weaken your hair. It also makes clothes not get as clean when washed. This water softener is compact and attractive. It comes with everything you need to quickly hook up and enjoy the area you are exploring without having to worry about the effects of hard water. I highly recommend this product. Pro tip: keep the box it’s packaged in. It is perfect for storing and protecting it while traveling to your next destination.
