I erased the first video tape and while erasing a second the device ceased working and that was it. Dead weight thereafter. A big disappointment and I will not order from this vendor again.

I bought this to erase videotapes, but it does a poor job. It may do better with audio cassettes because they are smaller. It should completely erase the tape, leaving it in pristine condition but it does not. Waste of money.

Have a lot of magnetic tape you want to erase quickly. This is the bulk eraser to use.

Bought this to replace one from decades ago that was apparently lost in moving. Instructions came with a coffee spill on it, covering a small area. The power cord was not wrapped in a professional manner as it would have been if brand new. Otherwise, the unit shows almost zero wear. Normally, in use, the base is held against the tape, and the tape is moved around to demagnetize it with the power switch pushed on. That causes wear over time. If the unit is used much, it wears much. This one shows mostly the original mold marks, not wear. It may have been used to demagnetize a few or one tape, not hundreds or thousands. The seller responded immediately to my request for details, and the item was shipped immediately once purchased.

It actually does erase your videotapes, but seems to require more than set of passes. This product will not help videotapes with deteriorated emulsion.
