About this item

  • 100 Percent Pure Silk
  • Absorbent
  • No Lint
  • Compressible

All Hodge silk swabs are made from 100 percent silk and come in performers black, royal blue, burgundy, forest green, and deep purple. Silk is very absorbent, soaking up water in instruments better than any other natural material on the market, including both cotton and chamois. Most uniquely, silk is also very compressible, making it possible to pull through instruments with large variations in bore size. In addition, silk is lint-free. The saxophone swabs use plastic-coated lead weight. They are designed to go all the way through the fully assembled saxophone. There is no need to remove the neck or carry a separate swab for the neck. This is a great convenience.

il prodotto ha basso rapporto fra qualità e prezzo. in rapporto al prezzo presenta pessimi materiali e bassa cura nelle finiture. non asciuga bene

Works most of the time, got stuck once and it was a big production to get it out. Need to find a different one.

The weight, which looks like something you might use on a lamp pull chain, was way too fat for my vintage straight Conn New Wonder II. Rather than hastle with a return, I cut that off and used a small split shot weight from my tackle box. That fit, but the cord is too short for a straight soprano so I added some line and now it works OK.

Very fine accessory. It cleans the mouthpiece and neck very well.

Weight is too large to pass through the neck of my curved Yani soprano. Buy a clarinet swab instead.

This is my favorite brand for swabs. You can use thge swab for the whole instrument or just for the neck. Very good product.

I bought this item for my curved soprano sax and it does a fine job of cleaning moisture out of the horn. The weight has enough heft to get through the horn without getting stuck. You can use it with the neck of the horn attached, if you wish. Drop the weight through the bell and pull it out through the neck. You may find that some pads still have moisture on them. I use strips of a paper towel to get the last drops of water from a few pads that tend to get the most moisture (like the left-hand palm keys at the top of the horn).

This is a soft lightweight piece of silk which is effective for wiping the mouthpiece and the horn dry for storage. At one end, there is a string with a weight. You want to place the weighted string through the bell and retrieve it from the neck. Several passes will ensure that the body is dry. I also pass this through the mouthpiece.Excellent quality and efficient use of time.

Not a bad product. In the past I have made my own swabs, but sometimes the homemade ones can get stuck in the body so for my Soprano I figured I would purchase one. This works great! I use it to clean the neck and mouth piece of all of my saxes, and it is easy to use. It doesn't come with instructions so if your reading this and you have never used a sax swab. After each use insert the weighed end in through the bell of the horn and pull it through 3 to 4 times. Do the same for the neck and mouth piece. Do this every time you play and it will save you in costly pad replacement. The swab is machine washable so when it has seen sufficient use make sure to wash it.Good luck.
