I only used this one day on the Camino. It wasn’t during a real hard rain, but it was a constant shower for several hours. This poncho worked great to keep me and my backpack dry.

I purchased one last year for my 8-day backpacking trip in Killarney Provincial Park. It saved me when it rained for several days during the trip, so I bought a large size for my husband as well.Features I Really Like: • Longer Rear Piece: The rear piece is longer than the front, accommodating a large backpack. • Secure Sleeves: The sleeves have Velcro to keep them in place, preventing my jacket from getting wet. I have raincoats from other brands with open sleeves, and my jacket sleeves always got wet. • Convenient Buttons: Both sides of the poncho have buttons, making it easy to put on or take off. When I arrived at the campsite, it was raining heavily. I set up the poncho as a tarp and cooked and ate my dinner first. Then, I set up my tent under the tarp, ensuring the entrance of the tent stayed dry, so I wouldn’t bring any water or mud inside. The poncho’s dual functionality as both a tarp and a raincoat saves weight and space for backpacking.I prefer this poncho over a hard shell jacket because it is multi-functional. It covers below my knees, eliminating the need for rain pants—a pair of gaiters suffices. It also covers my backpack, so I don’t need a separate rain cover. Since last year, I’ve taken this poncho on every backpacking trip. It has become an essential piece of my backpacking gear.Beyond backpacking, I also wear this poncho for walking my dog or day hiking. Compared to other name-brand products, its function and price make it a very good purchase. Highly recommend it.

This is the only one waterproof poncho I've found in the Small size, important for my short 5'4" frame. The actual dimensions (without the hood) for size S are 35"front and 43" back (great length for a short person); and a very wide 52/54" across. It will fit over the day pack, but for windy conditions I may consider cinching it in the front. The poncho size S has excellent low weight of 280 g, as compared my lightweight waterproof short MEC jacket size XL at 325 g.It is made of lightweight nylon fabric, with transparent in-fabric waterproofing, and sealed seams. It may not survive well in repeat laundry. With the fabric being slightly stiff, the poncho makes rustling sounds, that I should be able get used to.The hood has a drawstring for face opening, but no top-of-the-hood depth adjustment which is OK, as the hood is not deep. The front brim is stiffened and somehow flat, staying well in place. The hood is OK for wearing a small brimmed hat inside but it does not cover hat's front brim.In the past, I have been soaked in rain and snow, including water penetrating my backpack despite its waterproof cover. Thus trying a well constructed poncho that comes at affordable price makes sense to me.

this poncho has velcro not snaps. I don't hate it or love it. the material is good and there is alot of it . i measured it at 93 inches long . that makes it longer than most.
