Functions perfectly. Pocket size packet kept my hands warm on a 42 day voyage in the high Arctic retracing the route of the lost Franklin Expedition in search of the Northwest Passage. Perhaps if Capt. Sir John had more storage capacity aboard his ships, he and the crews on the Erebus and Terror might have achieved some pain relief and greater longevity. Alas, 'twas not to be. There. Hit all the "ideas" keyword prompts. One thing to add: if you pack too many of these things in your luggage (carry-on or checked), Canadian customs agents will be politely fraught and spend considerable time carrying on and jabbering amongst themselves to decide what to do about all this, then. In my case, and this is true, the agents decided to allow exactly half the number of handwarmers I had been carrying. The rest were confiscated. And not just me. Several others in my group had wildly varying numbers of the same item in their luggage, and despite the individual totals, they, too, were only allowed to retain half of whatever they brought. Cruel but fair.

These are no where close to being hot even after a one hour wait. I tried several packages. I couldn’t feel the warmth through the back pocket of my denim jeans. Sure, they were warm directly in the palm of my hands but didn’t warm my fingers.
