You just make a hole 1/4" or more, place the spot weld tip entered oh the hole & pull the trigger for 3-4 seconds & you have a very next spot weld.

does not "spot weld" but if you pre-drill the top piece of metal it does work to help keep the right distance for an amateur like me.
