This is a really awesome filter, for run and gun style setups having the option to use a magnetic filter is really nice but if you're trying to do a more locked off shot having the ability to also screw it in is nice for security and peace of mind. Overall, it's a really well thought out product and I would recommend it to anyone doing various kinds of shoots.

This filter is a " Thread and Magnetic 2-1, ND AND CPLThe "Thread and Magnetic 2 in 1" mode is just so useful when you need to remove the filter from your lense, having the CPL amazing to remove reflections from windows or water plus the ND filter to get the right exposure its just great to have it in the same product. also with this filter you don't get color shifting or vignetting on the edges of your photos. The quality of the filter feels premium for it's price it gets the job done without breaking the bank.If you are a natural light photographer or film maker you must have this filter with you to create awesome content. Most Natural light photographer don't use flash and having this filter its a must if you want to keep that low apeture.if you are a flash photographer and you don't have a powerful flash you can fully use the full power of your speedlite without loosing power when entering HSS, with the ND filter you can overpower the sun without entering HSS.This filter is a 1.5stop to 10stop plus Circular Polorizer " Thread and Magnetic 2-1. VND + CPLI will leave some samples of the product a couple samples of the CPL on a window car.

This is a good ND filter. It's all metal in construction. It threads easily with my camera lens and it's very thin so even on wide-angle lens, there's no vignette. The colors are pretty accurate as I didn't notice any color shifts. There's no weird color gradients and being a single piece of ND glass, there's no off coloring in different areas of the image. Lenses remain sharp with the filter in place. Overall, a good piece of ND filter glass for photographers.

You can get carried away soaking lots of money in name brand filters, but many companies make quality glass these days and I would say that this is true of H&Y. I ordered the 82mm ND8 filter. The magnetic adapter ring that attaches to your lens is nicely machined. It screws in smoothly and comes to a nice “stop”. The filter itself is mounted in the thinnest ring I have ever seen. It is primarily designed to be attached to the adapter ring magnetically, but it is also threaded so you don’t have to use the magnetic adapter. This ring is so thin that there is only about one thread available if you use it as a screw-in filter. It’s a bit difficult to thread and doesn’t go in very far, so I don’t see why you would not want to use the super convenient magnetic attachment. With the adapter ring attached to your lens, the filter snaps in place very solidly – so solidly that the thin filter can be difficult to remove. I found, though, that if you slide a fingernail between the rings, the filter comes off fairly easily with less change of dropping it. The magnetic attachment makes it easier to remove the ND filter temporarily, so you have more light to frame your subject. You can then pop the filter back on without the risk of inadvertently moving the camera. I have a stronger ND filter that is really overkill and a pain to use. This filter drops exposure by 3 stops and that is about right for my waterfall shots – especially when stacking it on a polarizing filter. Included with this review is a waterfall shot using the H&Y filter stacked with a polarizer and shot at ISO 100 and f/11. This allowed a 15-second exposure in a lightly shaded area on a sunny afternoon. I cannot detect any loss in sharpness using this filter. The color balance is slightly warm, but nothing that you won’t correct for in post. The filter comes well protected in a hinged case with foam padding that is easy to handle. This is an excellent filter that does what it is supposed to do.

I really like this filter for my water landscapes to smooth out the water and capture the motion of it. The quick switch magnetic feature is really nice too!

Super cool variable ND filter that I got for my Panasonic lumix s5. Screws in perfectly, and I can adjust the amount of dimming by just turning the dial

Magnetic filters have become the rage, and I can see why.Once you screw in the 'receiver' onto your lens, the filter itself is easily attached and detached. You can do it without even looking at the lens. It gives you the ability to swap out filters in a flash. That's worth ordering just for that. Those filter is well made, and the tolerances are nice and tight. Made from aluminum to keep the weight down, which is fine.I ordered the ND8 at 82mm. I tried it out on my Sony 135mm f/1.8 which is an exemplary lens. What I would consider a reference lens as it will reveal everything. The filter passed with flying colors. Looking at the two images provided the colors are the same. Any difference is blue is a slight exposure difference in my opinion. I shot with the filter extensively, and if I matched the setting, I ended up with two almost identical images as far as color cast goes. Not bad...in fact, pretty great. The loss of exposure seems accurate enough as well....meaning it is an ND8...it's not off.Why not perfect? It's a small niggle, but I cannot use a lens cap if this filter is on. In the quest to make this thin and light, there simply is not enough filter real estate for my lens cap to grab onto. I removed the filet and placed it back into its case to see if I could attach my cap to the screwed in 'receiver'. That was a no go as well. So when using the filter, you most probably will not be able to cap it. Take that for what it is worth. It's not a big deal, but it's something to watch out for.Still recommend this filter though...it is wickedly convenient and the color cast is non existent.
