One side of this was full rough pits in the wood and tiny splits. When I ran it on top of a ball of wool, the fibers immediately got caught up on the surface badly enough to actually start lifting the yarn out of the basket it was in. No way you could turn your yarn on the nostepenne and I imagine that when you tried to remove the finished cake of yarn, it would pull the center out. Good news- an easy return!

Had to return it as it takes forever and a day to wind a skein. I'm sticking with a yarn winder. Gave it 2 stars as it was well made.

This nostepinne is made from a nice hardwood, and sanded to a very smooth texture. Nothing snags. My granddaughter spins with a drop spindle and wanted to make center-pull balls from the thread she spins. This is simple and just perfect for her. She loves it!
