Variable valve timing solenoids (VVT) are an electromechanical device that control oil flow to the engine’s cam timing system. The powertrain control module (ECM or PCM) sends electrical pulses to an electronic solenoid that will move the mechanical portion of the VVT system depending on engine load and speed. The VVT system can advance or re-tard cam timing by altering the duration of time the valves stay open and valve overlap (time the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time), this will give the engine the best possible performance, fuel economy, and lowest exhaust emissions under all operating conditions.
For the VVT to properly perform it is imperative that the motor oil condition be clean, be at full capacity and be of the proper oil type for the engine application. The VVT system requires proper oil pressure and viscosity to work correctly. If the oil is contaminated or low when the VVT is commanded to move there will not be enough oil volume to change cam timing and a trouble code will set. Located on most solenoids are screens, or filters, which protect the solenoid from internal damage due to contaminates. Following your vehicles recommended maintenance schedule is imperative for extended life and wo-rry-f-ree operation.

Fit and function perfectly. Rather common item to change out, but you do have to remove the right side motor mount. 20 min job.

Not professional in cars but so far it got the job done for little while. I was told from my mechanic it could also be something else. Forgot name. But now it make sense. I say so far it’s worth getting. He is the one that pointed me to this product especially to save money.

GM 3.6. easy to install on front facing engine. Not so easy on sideways engine. Have patience. Sensors are easy to come out and replace. ( Sideway engines ) Remove power steering resvour remove fuse box. And upper engine mount and bracket. Again patience. Becareful removing 12 volt plug. ( If you do not know what you are doing, Seek Professional Help. ) I changed all 4 on my sideways 3.6 including 4 cam sensors. . Patience 100% you Tube . Several videos how to remove and to install. Great value. These have to be replaced on a neglected Engine. Not proper oil changes. These sensors control oil flow around cams. . If not working properly throw a code 7 EA or 7 E8. Again if you do not know what you are doing Seek Professional Help.
