It is the one nearly universal shortcoming of gas stoves, the low simmer can burn if big pot (cheap especially, so bottom is thin). That burn puts a burn flavor into the big pot of chili (that some people like). But even if you like it, there is a limit before it kills the cooking job. This works just fine. The handles can detach to get out of way of tight space. Easy. Cheap. Works.

I very much liked the design of the unit but on one side of the unit the holes were spiked. However, the packing (brown padded, not air-bubble envelope) did not offer very much safety for the unit. My unit arrived , paint chipped because of thin, Rockwell hardness around 25 i would say. This kind of steel one can easily bend with their fingers, I did. The handle was warped also. The unit was probably damaged in shipping by UPS/USPS, but if the unit was properly secured with adequate shipping materials, the damage would probably not have happened.

I’m sure this will work but when I read it was iron I just got the impression is would be thick. Instead it’s very light weight. Handle was bent on it and the black paint was chipping off the handle. The same black paint is on the diffuser so I’m pretty sure it will do the same on that. Fairly disappointed. Have not used yet but I can’t imagine it will be any better than my old $8 diffusers.

Thin metal used All around. Arrived with bent handle and all paint chipped off where bent.Returned and bought cast iron one.

Key misleading word in advertiser’s product label is “iron” heat diffuser. In reality it is simply thin “stamped” Sheet metal that appears to have been enameled perhaps for product longevity. Marketed for gas and glass stove tops, I wrote distributor twice asking for assurance that this diffuser could be used on glass cooktops. First reply was “I don’t understand” your concern and second reply avoided the issue leading me to assume something might not be as advertised. Bought to evenly distribute heat over my Lodge cast iron griddle I expected “iron” fitting flat on my gas or glass stove top with the products “mass” heating up uniformly. There is no “mass” and it sits down only on the thin ridge around its circumference stamped out for some strength. For fear of destroying my expensive glass cook top I will not use this product got that purpose. Additionally there is no manufacture of origin or “any” label of any kind further leading me to suspect quality, endurance, versatility. Not worth half the price nor the month long wait for delivery
